Rand has been abused by the left and right. She would have spat on the modern day Republican Party. She was NOT a conservative. Hayek would have rejected them. Mises too. Hitler....

I don't know about being a conservative but Rand certainly wouldn't have been a modern day Republican. She was as opposed to crony capitalism as she was to socialism.
True. Even the guy named after her and worships her, Rand Paul, doesn't follow her views.

Yes, to the part in bold. She opposed the entitlement mentality. I don't recall her berating the poor on assistance programs. Most of her venom was directed at the crony capitalists and poverty pimps demanding that they had some right to government support.
The funny thing is, is she only needed help because of her pig headed/conservative like denial of science concerning the effects of smoking.

I don't think there is a 'true conservatism' in the sense that everyone has a different idea of what that entails. Ayn, like many others on both sides, has some good ideas and some that are a bit out there. Keep in mind I say this based on my perception of where she is. Obviously the further to the left a persons ideology lies, the more 'insane/crazy' Ayn will 'appear'.
A true conservative to me with regards to politics is one that focuses on fiscal responsibility and limited government (again, this is a highly subjective phrase).

Okay, so I'm not a conservative - but what I think Rand represented was a VERY broad brush on how many conservatives stereotype the world.
The people she portrayed were basically black & white: there were either rugged individualists who took on the constraints of a regulated society that sought to impede their success, or whimpering slaves to the welfare state. She took the concept of "makers" and "takers" and really ran with it.
Obviously, this is not reality.

Rand was not a conservative and certainly not a Republican. She's not even really a libertarian, although that is the party that most closely embodies her views.
Evolution? Stem Cells? When's the last time a Democrat candidate for POTUS said that vaccines cause Dixieitis (aka "mental retardation")? And you are wrong on climate change too. The denial on the effects of smoking were maintained well after the science was clear? The scares concerning fluoridated water?
The left occassionally latches on to some strain of nonsense but it is usually short lived.

I am not wrong on man made global warming. The computer models they have relied upon have blown up over the past decade. The data doesn't support their assertions. They ignore what occurred prior to the late 1800's. They ignore the fact that it was natural for the second half of the last century to be warmer 'on average' as we were coming out of the little ice age... so logic would dictate we would not just immediately get warmer, but rather it would happen over time. They ignore the fact that the medieval period was as warm, if not warmer than what we are currently experiencing.
