Those who believe in heaven commit more crimes

What? Who said anything about gay marriage?

the link you provided.....I assumed this was a summary of what the article was about...
Update:In this show, The United Church of Christ is cited as the only denomination to openly accept gay marriage. Since this show first aired, several more denominations have officially adopted that position.

There are many like them among Christians

no, there really aren't......you just want to pretend there are......

The title of the thread is absolutely accurate, according to the study.

the study states that people who believe in heaven and hell are less likely to commit crimes than those that believe in heaven but don't believe in hell.....therefore, if you are only going to look at their beliefs in heaven you would have to state that those who believe in heaven are less likely to commit crimes than those who believe in heaven.......yet the thread title is "those who believe in heaven commit more crimes".........that is not accurate.....that is dishonest......and actually, quite stupid......

I just wanted to piss off some believers. Mission accomplished!

????....did you think making yourself look ignorant was going to piss us off?......I come to the board specifically to point at things and say "oh look.....stupid".......giving me something to do doesn't piss me off.....it offers me an opportunity to fulfill my purpose........

Typical knee jerk. Find something to disagree with quick and sink your teeth in before thinking. The link is to an episode of This American Life about the Reverend Carlton Pearson and his rejection of hell. It has virtually nothing at all to do with gay marriage.

But don't believe me, it's all really a gay Marxist plot!

no, there really aren't......you just want to pretend there are......

There are lot's of people who reject the idea of hell. The problem Pearson brings up about what happens to those poor starving children who never accepted the Gospel is a cliche at Sunday Schools. But then the kids are beaten into turning off their brains with threats of damnation to those who question the authority of the church.

so you have one notch on your handle?.....sweet......some guy somewhere believes in heaven but doesn't believe in hell......lets pretend the survey makes sense now......

Yes, there are, you wish to pretend your brand of Christianity is the only one and that just isn't the case.

I provided examples of two well known church leaders off the top of my head. They have congregations. There are plenty more.

As mentioned, the Jewish faith is open to interpretation concerning the afterlife. Some even believe in reincarnation.

Clearly, you are very ignorant concerning religion probably due to your propenstiy for knee jerk reactions.

I welcome you to find a brand of Christianity that believes in heaven but doesn't believe in hell......I made the same offer to String, but he hasn't been up to the task.....

the only thing they've been known for was being chucked out by their congregations for their beliefs......

There are plenty more.
no.....there aren't......that is why you were able to find the first two.....they are so unusual someone talked about them on the internet.....

I suppose if they are open to your interpretation you might be able to make the case they believe in one afterlife but not the other.....or course, that's the only way you're going to be able to swing it.......if you choose to "interpret" it that way......

Clearly, you are very ignorant concerning religion probably due to your propenstiy for knee jerk reactions.

keep waving your arms.....if they don't keep your head above water at least a life guard might notice you and save your drowning ass.....

the actual study can be found here.

Crime and punishment.

It includes the idea that emerging countries can benifit from a belief in hell but the belief in heaven is not an advantage.

It clearly shows why Hell was invented.

To control the behavior of the poor masses.

want them not t steal?

make sure they think they will burn in hell for an enternity.

Makes treating like shit pay off for the monied interests sucking off the cream of an emerging market

You cant FORCE them to give up the idea of heaven so you then ADD to that belief a belief in hell.

makes the poor just accept not having a decent life

Hell is an Invention of the Church

Retired Episcopal Bishop says Hell is an invention of the church to control people with fear:

Why Christianity must Change or Die… Today, everything needs to change! Why would Christianity be any different? Watch this video and you may better understand why religion may be under the new paradigm for change…

Now you know why I plead with people to stop organizing religious beliefs.

when you organize you craft your own leash, place it arround your own neck and hand the handle to someone in the church.

Believ e whatever you want to believe and DONT organize
