Prospective pot shop owners be warned: New England’s top narcotics cop says federal agents won’t hesitate to come down on dispensaries that pop up next year under the Bay State’s medical marijuana law.

John J. Arvanitis, special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New England Division, told the Herald in an exclusive interview that the feds will probe pot pharmacies as they see fit.

“Marijuana is still a controlled substance,” Arvanitis said. “DEA is committed to investigating individuals who are involved in the distribution of marijuana. DEA goes to where the information and evidence take it. If we become aware that individuals are involved in marijuana distribution, we’ll investigate it.”
 
We'll see. Obama gave an interview after the election saying that the Feds had much bigger things to worry about, and indicating that the will of the people on the issue was pretty clear after the election results.

This is going to be a big deal this year. I'd be surprised if the Fed policy didn't change in the next few months.

and i'm sure that it will see 'lots' of media exposure......or not, especially with the new full court press on gun restrictions and bannings. in any case, I fully expect to see lots of liberals here say that it's only a matter of time, even as I post more and more of the raids. At that point, it will probably even be pushed away as 'not as important' as other issues......:rolleyes:

Well, it's a big deal to me. Obama lost my vote because of it.

I was heartened by the votes for MJ on election day, because one thing Washington doesn't ignore is votes. They'll have to choose between their big pharma money, and a growing popular tide for legal MJ. I got the impression from Obama after the election that he is well aware of the latter, and doesn't want to mess w/ it.

Like I said, we'll see. If the Feds don't change, it will be pretty disappointing.

Well, no. He said that the states where marijuana was LEGALIZED, would not be scrutinized.

That's a big difference than the states that are skirting fed. laws via bogus 'medical' marijuana dispensaries.

I guess you don't know any children then. Yes, black women tend to be awesome, much stronger than the men, apparently. It's not easy raising children and they do so while their men abandon them at rates up to 90% in some inner cities.
