Right to work...for LESS

Very true. And that's why the argument that unions are no longer necessary is a tad flawed. I'm as anti union as they come. I can tell you stories of gross incompetence on union jobs. But, ridding the country of unions will start a tidal wave of regression into the darkest days of labor having no defense against mgmt.

This is going to be an interesting fight to watch.
Nobody is talking of ridding the country of unions.
Just allowing a choice!

You have a choice. Don't work at a union shop if you don't want to pay union dues.
And if the union blackballs you?
You don't know a man who is connected?
Wrong color?
Wrong accent?
Unions refuse membership to applicants all the time.

You have a nice job with a union, but the BA has a nephew who needs a job?

You clearly have never experienced union nepotism.
It's nothing more than a street gang.

Unions also picket non union sites, often resorting to violence against non union workers.
If they want to pay union dues, they shouldn't go near non union jobs.

Nothing in your post has any relevance to my post which you quoted.

Just a few questions:

If unions are SOOOO great/awesome/wonderful
Why has union membership declined over the years?
why, when given a choice do people CHOOSE not to belong to a union?
Why do workers in many companies resist/vote down union's who try to unionize a company?

Inquiring minds want to know...

No one alive today knows the horrors of the pre-union worker, and most, like you are too ignorant or lazy to research for themselves. Do you have any idea how many people were murdered by companies, (often with the collusion of police/government) before unions?

Let the demalquedacrats kvetch. They know that they are in trouble on this issue if it catches hold. I wonder if they will play the recall game like they did in Wisconsin. The GOP just has to continue hammering home on the words CHOICE. Language matters here. They need to own words that the left usually uses. The left wing is losing the messaging war on right to work.

Nice of you to ASS U ME what I know and do not know about unions, their history, their origins, etc...
But just to placate you...

Back in the day, yes unions WERE needed to combat the gross abuses that workers had to endure. Child labor, unsafe working conditions, and low wages are 3 of the bigger issues that they faced. We have come a long way from those days, unions were instrumental in getting the needed changes accomplished, now there are laws on the books that address these issues.

How many unions have you been a member of? I grew up in a union household, my dad was a steelworker for 33 years, after I got out of the Marine Corps I went to work with my dad in the same mill. I have also been a member of the Teamsters union, was not impressed by either one. It did not matter how hard you worked or how lazy you were, everybody got paid the same amount. I left the steel mill after 3 guys were killed in the 3 years I was there, one was killed in a true accident but the other two, lets just say both could have been prevented.

Today we have OSHA, NLRB, and Workers Comp (yea I know not federal) which address workplace safety, etc...

I noticed tho that you did not address any of my questions but just turned it into personal attack....
Think you can address my questions?

I gave you my answer, which was indeed the answer to your questions, but you are too ignorant to realize it. I can't help that.

Yes it does.
You clearly don't understand the construction industry.
If a private, non union site has non union workers working on it, why should unions picket outside it?
Often using violence toward non union workers?
Calling the workers rats, scabs etc.
Or if a worker employed in a private company is sent to a job by his boss, how is that applying to a union job?
Union workers will still steal his tools, puncture his tires or coconut acts of violence!!
One rule for unions, another for the meritorious worker?

It is also constituinaly impossible to enter a house without a warrent, to veiw mail or e-mails, to tap phone calls yet it happens every day. Nice try though.

None of the things you listed are constitutionally impossible, they are unconstitutional, and can be prosecuted as such. Nice try though.

I have been in the construction business, in Boston, for over 30 years, non-union, and never ever one bit of trouble from unions or union members. Shut your ignorant mouth.

Not much of a response, you did not directly address any of my questions but instead posted the following:
No one alive today knows the horrors of the pre-union worker

Then you resort to another personal attack, sounds like you have some sort of inferiority complex, or lacking in something to constantly attack on here.

Yet you defend unions but are not a member?????
So, basically you do NOT practice what you preach....interesting.

I worked for 10 years in both a unionised job(3 months in 233) the rest of the time employed in a non union role.

I once managed a job, a test pit, 2 laborers, an engineer and me at Fenway park, to see if the pickings could support additional load when a new bar/restaurant was opening.

A carpenters union team were forming a small concrete pour.
They gave our lads a very difficult time for being non union.
Apparently their digging made too much noise!!

You know it happens, the truth is inconvenient to your vicious dogma.
So you rant and hurl abuse.

Apology accepted I guess.

I defend women and blacks and homosexuals too, without being a member. Pretty sure I actually am practicing what I preach. You don't see me telling anyone to join unions, do you, moron?

But that's because you want to be a Black Lesbian. :chesh:

You don't have to take the job. There is no force involved.

Hey that kind of thinking can go for the unions member in RTW states, if they don't like that other employees are being hired as non union members, they can quit and go work somewhere that is 100% union employed.
