NYers watch man for 22 seconds before subway crushes him.

its the urban training. people in large urban areas are too stupid to know what to do about emergencies except to call on nanny state gov, so the only thing they can do is watch and be good witnesses.

Neat, the first poster (the OP) is butt hurt enough about the last election that he's/she's tossing Obama's name into the ring as if it's relevant (does that mean Romney's name should get tossed around every time a fundamentalist Mormon molests a teenaged girl?) and the second poster is gonna go with people in large urban areas are stupid.

Rural god fearing teabaggers bagging on city folk?

Nope, just a couple zipperheads.

Well, let's not forget that NYers also ran into burning towers while others were running out to save people who were trapped or otherwise impeded.

you actually have a slight point. I SHOULD have said that urban folk are LED TO BELIEVE they are too stupid to know what to do. my bad.

As opposed to the rural people who prefer the "hey yall, watch this". Stupidity is not a city folk monopoly, no matter what texas thinks.

my stepson and his friends are not rural folk, but they are well known for the 'watch this' crap, so as much as i'd like to indulge your texas redneck hick fantasy...can't do it.

Don't have to, I've watched them myself, the dumb firework stories alone could keep youtube busy for hours.

You don't have a point...so we're even.

Those people aren't trained rescue workers, what sense does it make for a waitress from Denny's or a vacuum salesman work'n the late shift jumping off of platforms near that fabled third rail chock full of life ending electricity? More dead people isn't the answer as well people getting pushed or shoved off the platform really isn't all that common of an occurrence to relegate a bunch of rescue personal to the platforms on the off chance that it's gonna happen...what you should've done is think it through before you posted in absolutes...

22 second goes by pretty damned quickly in a tragedy.

it would take you nearly ten second to emotionaly process that the man was about to die.

then you would have to move to him and yank him physically OUT of a five foot hole in 12 seconds.

The homeless guy is a nutter and this guy didnt have a chance.

you mean waitresses and salesmen are unaware of a 3rd rail? surely you can't be claiming that urban dwellers are that ignorant of how things around them work, can you? maybe you should have thought things through, like do you know CPR? or any first aid at all?

you have any factual cite for the neural process time of emotional thinking?

It would be horrific, absolutely devastating.

It amazes me that the same people who will point fingers at others for lack of action have no qualms about cheering for the defeat of a bill to help the disabled.

Isn't that the point of the OP? OMG look at the stupid people who stood by and did nothing? Yes...

Are you saying what I suggested isn't true simply because it wasn't said? Really? Shall we parse? I don't think so.

I was asking about who cheered for the defeat of the bill, but stay all defensive about it. better that than being kicked in the debate again.
