Raise the debt limit again ?

Obama's opening "fiscal cliff" bid seeks debt limit hike, and (stimulus, (ala Bush))......how about that ....and it seems like only a few short months ago some hypocrite said,

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America 's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better."

The Quote of the Decade

You know four years ago when this POS got elected I was hoping that he'd go as hard and fast left as possible, thinking that would shock the hell out of people and they'd throw the bums out. They did, and we did in 2010 to the extent possible. Then I started thinking that The Obama would go down in history as Carter II, America had woken up and he'd get defeated in a landslide in 2012.

Obviously I was wrong. My mistake was that I didn't go far enough back historically to look at the trends. The Obama is not Carter II, he's FDR II.

FDR used the opportunity of a bad economy to seize power with freebies. That assured his re-election, three times. It also put a massive bureaucracy in place that was beholden to the Democrat Party, creating a massive new Democrat voting block.

LBJ went further by creating a huge minority Democrat voting block, but I think the FBI had some good dirt on hm (JFK's murder and cover-up) that forced him not to run again.

The Obama mastered the cash for votes scheme and there is no going back. The Democrat Party has a lock on the presidency, and many congressional seats, far into history.

But... There is one big-ass problem that could cause the whole scheme to collapse. That's the ongoing destruction of the dollar, the huge national debt and the complete lack of work ethic of much of our work force. FDR was rescued by the Brits buying war materiel from US factories, along with the incredible productivity of our factories and workers to produce. All that is gone though now. The Brits, in fact all of Europe, are in just as crappy shape as we are. And most of our factories are in China. And American workers? Most lack the desire to produce, and many have never produced anything of value in their lives.

I for one hope that the shit hits the fan soon, China calls in our debt and the US treasury goes into bankruptcy. At that point we'll have the state governments step in and issue their own currency. Of course, deep blue states will instantly go into bankruptcy as well, but my state and others like mine will thrive. Our borders won't be defended so you can say "goodbye" to Hawaii and likely California, becoming part of China and the US debt will be paid off with land. The remaining states will hold a constitutional convention and hopefully re-write it to basically say what it says now- a limited federal government- but only with more forceful language that will make it very difficult for future Democrats to creatively interpret it away.

The Obama will try and blame Bush, like FDR blamed Hoover, but he'll be in exile in New China.

So spend away Democrats. Raise the taxes to 100% and drive the wealthy to the Cayman Islands and their remaining factories far offshore. My state militia will protect our borders, but not yours. My US dollars will be traded for NC dollars, TX dollars or UT dollars. We'll end up with a few less states and a new neighbor that will look a lot like Hong Kong.

You have done an exquisite job of showcasing the Repub/conservative problem. Your comment, "seems like only a few short months ago" when it was 6 years ago. A different time, a different circumstance but, hey, if it was appropriate then it should work now.

You have pinpointed the problem, Bravo. :good4u:

What do you guys expect? Obama was tasked with building up a dependent base so he could get re-elected, it was a brilliant plan. Create a larger, poorer, dependent class that has to have their subsidy. It worked at the cost of every working American.

I think we have more in common than meets the eye, DY. While you're expecting a major event/change and a whole new way of living so am I. I"m looking forward to the Pleiadians landing on the White House lawn.

Isn't my fantasy better than yours? :)

You mean like FDR ruined everything, from pulling the people out of a life-destroying depression to winning a world war? Man, what a dufus, huh? :palm:

He started the creation of the dependency class. You appear fond of it apparently because you are incapable of providing for yourself.

Oh I know what you are going to say "it isn't for me, I just care so much about others"

Blah blah fucking blah

Great example! Thanks for bringing this idiot up. He enacted the NRA which the SCOTUS had to step in and stop becuase it was an attempt to regulate commerce. The SCOTUS was way too late as the legislation drove many small businesses out before it was abolished. We are seeing some of the same practices today. Thanks for your help.

He won a world war. Not seeing where he rescued the economy, though, unless you count a temporary spike in the manufacturing industry to fight the war, and a massive draft to artificially lower unemployment.

better yet.lets cut military spending in half.

Fine cut it in half and you still have $1 trillion deficit

You are being played when Obama says he will take the money for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and use it here. That was borrowed money.

It is stunning how willingly ignorant you lefists are

Brilliant. Use a quote from the period just before Bushco admitted that the economy was about to crash. Context means nothing.

Could you point to a time when the debt ceiling was ever an issue before? Can you illustrate a debt ceiling vote that wasn't rubber stamped?

Apple admitted that he voted "in his best interest", so you pegged him.

I've provided for myself quite nicely, thank-you. :) However, I do remember when things were not so rosy, many years ago.

Can't you understand people usually repeat what they themselves went through? For example, conjugal violence. Someone who grew up in a home where it took place is more prone to repeat such behavior. The same applies to people who had to struggle and didn't receive any help. They are more likely to deny others help.

The change has to start at the beginning. The more difficult we make it for young people to get an education (high tuition costs, high interest loans, fewer grants) the more likely they will be opposed to helping others when they get older and it keeps repeating itself. Why deliberately make it difficult for people when it is not necessary? There is no honor or benefit to needless struggle. If we help young people to get a good education and a good job they won't mind paying a portion of the debt because they've been helped.

Try to evolve.
