[h=4]Facebook[/h] [h=4] Lindsey Stone was fired from her job over this Facebook photo.

[h=2]Lindsey Stone, 30, was fired for the controversial photo, but critics won't relent. A 'Set Fire to Lindsey Stone' Facebook group was created, where users called for the 30-year-old to be shot or exiled.[/h]
A Massachusetts company is being applauded for firing a woman who made a vulgar gesture next to a soldier’s burial site, sparking nationwide outrage.

LIFE, a Cape Cod-based nonprofit that helps adults with disabilities, announced on Wednesday that 30-year-old Lindsey Stone was taken off unpaid leave and terminated.

Nearly 4,000 people “liked” the announcement on Facebook.

“This was the right thing to do,” one commenter wrote.

“Good for LIFE,” wrote another. “At least they care about their reputation and how employees handle themselves.”

Stone was slammed for posting a Facebook photo of herself giving the middle finger and pretending to scream next to a sign asking for “Silence & Respect,” at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider at Arlington National Cemetery.

A coworker who took the viral snapshot was also fired, LIFE said.

“Again, we deeply regret any disrespect to members of the military and their families,” the company said in a statement. “The incident and publicity have been very upsetting to the learning disabled population we serve.”

Vitriol toward Stone hasn’t relented since she lost her job.

After a “Fire Lindsey Stone” Facebook group was started, a “Set Fire to Lindsey Stone” group was also created.

Commenters suggested “she should be shot” or exiled from the United States.

Few came to Stone’s defense and accepted her explanation that the photo — while inappropriate — was simply a poor joke.

Stone, who issued a statement of apology, has refused to show her face since the backlash, her parents told CBS Boston.

:rofl2:

She was dispickable what's more dispickable is that this was made into something so big I have to even know about it. People like her should be ignored.

So if I shoot someone for saying something I do not like I have not infringed their freedome of speech?

Or is it only infringement if the government shot her?
;)

killing someone for being stupid is pretty unAmerican

She wasn't killed.

I'm sure you are still consumed with anger over her being fired, you would disrespect the unknown soldier too, wouldn't you?

Liberals hate veterans and serving troops!!

Private entities, people, companies etc are the ones protected by the constitution.
Protected FROM government oppression.

Ahh now some of the right wingnuts lunacy becomes clearer.
They think that the constitution does not apply to the citizens.

This is the problem with America today. Everyone wants to be offended by something and demands their pound of flesh to assuage that offense. Whether it is left or right, no punishment is too great for whatever sacred cow is supposedly gored.

Susan G. Komen decides it doesn't want to give money to an abortion mill any longer? Can't have that. No they must be forced to associate.

This woman decides to act in poor taste and people call for her murder? How is that any less distasteful than her actions? Were her actions distasteful? I think so. Did they rise to the level of being fired? Well, that is up to her employer. I am of the personal belief that an employer should be able to fire an employee for any reason they want, whether it be words spoken, posts on social media, being gay, being conservative, being liberal, whatever. I believe in freedom of association.

Lastly, those who equate this to freedom of speech are idiots and have ZERO understanding of the US Constitution. But, then if people had an understanding of the US Constitution, they wouldn't stand by while Congress abrogates its responsibility to declare war yet we end up in foreign hostilities. If people had an understanding of the US Constitution, we wouldn't have an income tax. I could go on, but you get the point.

Are you saying the left does not act in this way when they have a perceived offense against them? Surely you aren't claiming this is something only comitted by the right? Are you?

I thought the constitution covered the right of the govt to levy taxes on the citizens.

But thank you for not going on ;)
