Voters in PA greeted today by Panthers, Murals

Also, too, there are lots of reports of poll workers asking people in PA for ID to vote. ID is not required.

Well, they're allowed to ask but we're not required to provide it. In my district they didn't ask but on the radio I heard of a woman in another area of PA who was refused until she reluctantly showed a photo ID.

It has nothing to do with the size of the image, shitforbrains. A mural is not active. It is passive.

You are absolutely abandoning your argument that the Feds should let States and locals choose what they determine to be "moral." Apparently, you are okay with Federal legislation as long as it restricts the rights of individuals in some way or if the latest story involves something you want to stop a black person from doing.

I really think you guys are expecting a loss and are just finding things to whine about.

Whether something is "active" or not, has nothing to do with "passive electioneering." You are again perverting language in order to make your argument, and I am calling you out on that. Therefore, let the personal insults begin! A wall-sized mural of one of the candidates being voted for, is NOT PASSIVE! It is very AGGRESSIVE campaigning, and IS ILLEGAL! I seriously doubt ANY of you misfits would be supporting this, if the mural was a Republican, even if he weren't on the ballot! If it was Ronald Reagan in the mural, you'd all be going absolutely NUTS over it!

And looky here at the Big "Libertarian" doing everything but cartwheels for Obama on election day? You're a fucking Libertarian like I'm the goddamn POPE!

Uh, how is a mural active?

It doesn't have to be "active" to not be passive, shit for brains. A sign or brochure is not active! A button or sticker is not active! There is ANOTHER word that goes with "passive" in the law, it's "electioneering" and that means stuff pertaining to the outcome of said election. A wall-sized mural of one of the candidates does not constitute "passive electioneering" by any stretch.

BUT... I tell ya what.... NEXT election, we'll see to it that EVERY polling precinct in Red State America is plastered with images of President Romney! When Democrat voters go to the polls, we'll make certain they have to walk through a maze of "passive" Romney banners to get to where they vote, and the voting booths will be plastered with ROMNEY stickers! Hope you enjoy the NEW DEMOCRACY!

You're right that it isn't passive electioneering, though, because it isn't electioneering.

LOL. You are a fucking retard. Whether it is passive or active obviously has to do with whether it is passive.

Whether it violates the legal definition of electioneering in Pennsylvania is open to interpretation. But not yours. The officials there have indicated that simply wearing a tshit or pin is not electioneering and I so it would seem unlikely that they would rule this electioneering as there is no proof that the mural is intended to influence voters.

There is nothing in the law about passive or active, Ditzy. The law pertains to electioneering and is very vague about what that is. The Pennsylvania officials tasked with enforcing the law have ruled it does not include those wearing a tshirt or pin that otherwise do not take additional action to influence votes. It's the intent of the person using the material and whether they are actively attempting to influence voting, that is prohibited.

Its a school mural for christ sake.

when the people vote they cant see it.

LOOK at their polling stations.

EVERYONE knows who the president is.

Why is having to stand in line for 7 hours to vote fine with you but a schoool mural breaks your brain?

Yet it breaks PA law to have it at a polling place...

The Mural is a violation of PA law. Period.

It doesn't 'break' your brain fool, it breaks the regulations bout what is allowed in polling places.......

Says who? The law does not make inanimate objects illegal. It prohibits the action of electioneering. If you have some proof that they painted it with the intent of soliciting votes then you might have something. Otherwise, you are just whining like a little ....

We'd have to cover it. (BTW- I am currently working as an election judge.)
