One in five Americans has no religion

So then you see no value in any polling? or only the ones where you don't like the results

Polls don't normally reveal names and answers..
Do YOU personally stigmatize atheists ?

Do YOU personally ridicule agnostics....?

or only ridicule the believers ?

Who said I see no value in polling or surveys? They are not 100% accurate and there can be problems with methodology.

Who said I don't like the results? They indicate movement towards a less dogmatic views on religion, which I welcome.

I articulated why this poll may be skewed and the numbers might be low. Stating that you are an atheist has to often be followed with the disclaimer that it does not mean you are a hedonist, nihilist, Satanist, humanist or any of the other association commonly spread through misinformation and hate. Voltaire even had to explain to you that it does not indicate complete rejection of the remote possiblity of something that may be called god and we have been over this MANY times here.

The right has been asked to give some reason why the Presidential polls would be skewed and have failed to offer anything rational.

Polls/surveys are conducted over the phone or in person.

So please post your phone number and or a picture and then explain to us why would someone resist expressing a commonly held view that few care about?

Have you ever told family or friends you aren't a christian, muslim, jew etc. That you don't believe in god? If not it would explain why you question the stigmatization that occurs because you wouldn't see it, or look for it.

Yet, I'll bet you would deny that YOU would personally stigmatize a person that denies some God....
Everyone else does, but not you, right.....

Anyway, the point in contention is that these surveys aren't accurate because people would would fear being stigmatized.....claims made in #5 and #11
In reality, surveys do not ask for names nor publicize the names and their particular answers....therefore...
no one need fear any kind of repercussions from their answers to a survey...

Quite different than admitting anything face to face with a friend or family member....where that ridicule might happen
Try it with a stranger and you'll most likely suffer no ridicule at all....because they don't really gives a shit, what you believe....

My brother thinks I am a godless heathen. I told my family I have a lot of questions and doubts, and leave it there. I do not discuss the issue with my parents, they are in their 90's and they not ask, so I don't share. I do not see it as vital to our relationship. They love me anyway, my brother, he prays for me.

Anyway....the Janitor stated that "This a survey on an issue where people who answer a certain way face an extreme amount of stigmatization".

Ridicule for admitting to being what they are......I just don't agree with that but that doesn't mean there are no exceptions to the rule....

No, I am not talking about ridicule. Many here and in the real world have and/or continue to advocate for state sponsored violence against those of differing views. I have not yet heard of people going into the local GOP HQ and shooting people. That's the people who wear your label.

Your buddy Dixie has been using violent imagery about how he wants to respond to pinheads. But oh, somebody made fun of him for in the past stating that equal thirds can not exist, that man and dinosaurs may have coexisted, that Florida was not part of the confederacy, his persistent insistence that theories surrounding evolution/global warming are on par with theories concerning intelligent design and a long list of other completely retarded statements, so that makes it ok? Somebody else implies Republicans are too tolerant of racists and may be racist because those leaning towards or supporting Romney often make posts generalizing large numbers of minorities and you don't like to be stigmatized. I understand and have been striving to give you every opportuinty to ecplain how your views differ. So, please...

BTW, I put @$$#0!3 Troll and RazorX on ignore after they tried to score political points off of the torture of a 2 year old and for consistently failing to support there threads. If ridicule won't work then it is time to tune them out. No loss, since neither have anything of value to add.

This pretends that there has never been an instance when someone making a phone call has misrepresented themselves and/or that sounds of surveys conducted in person do not carry.

So again, after posting your phone number and a picture explain to us why it is so hard to identify as a Romney supporter and or a Republican.

What a desperate stretch.....and the rest, irrelevant as it is to your claims.... you can figure it out for yourself......I know I don't reveal myself as a Conservative at all....

What is it that you want to know or don't understand or is this just your way of making another wrong assumption.

You made a blanket statement and I responded and you made another blanket statement. You really do lack depth. However sometimes people get their 'story' 'cover' in line out of habit this could also play into this...but the more people like me, who don't have a belief in god come out and are seen and heard in this country the easier it will be for the rest to do the same. That's how these things work.

I'm making the assumption that you, along with the majority of us, do not ridicule for their lack of religious beliefs...I could be wrong about you though.

But I've certainly seen people just like you ridicule people FOR their religious beliefs.....beliefs that for the most part harm no one....

What you assume is a blanket statement is better understood if you've follower the ENTIRE thread from the beginning....thats why
I made clear to you what was claimed in those other posts....

Harm no one, I beg to differ. Their beliefs as well as yours deny some individuals their rights. This is when I ridicule religion. You need to keep your religion out of my life.

Well, let me explain to you, My mother is religious, she is not a hypocrite, I do not ridicule her for her beliefs. My brother is a hypocrite, I ridicule him nd his religion because he oesnt practice what Jesus preached.

I ridicule hypocrites, if I find a hypocritical agnostic or atheist, I will ridicule them.

those in glass houses

jesus did not ridicule those who believed in him, yet did not always practice what he preached.

lol......listening to your dishonest claims causes more damage........you make up more shit than you've ever seen.....

MY religion never entered your life or anyone elses....

Of course, you're referring to abortion....its legal sweetie and has been for years....so that dog don't hunt....
What some religious demand of their followers is just that, for their followers....
To demand that any religion change its tenets to support what they don't support for others, is clearly against their rights and doesn't prevent anyone from
getting anything ....
Catholics should not be forced to pay for abortions for others, etc.....that doesn't prevent anyone from getting an abortion;
The same is true of contraception......go to the nearest drug store and buy anything you need.....and you pay for it.....
if its needed for a medical condition, thats between you and insurance company and what was ordinarily contraception now is considered medicine....a vast difference.
Anything else ?.............and begging will get you nowhere.

Catholics don't have to have abortions, no one is forcing them to abort, although many Catholics do have abortions, just like Republucans have abortions, but the Catholics should not have a say in other choices. This is what is so hypocritical, people who claim to be religious do things in private that they will not admit to in public. I know of several women who had abortions when they were teenagers that would not tell their current congregations that they had one.

Abortion is ot the only issue here religion wishes to deny people their rights, it is also books, music, who you love, just to name a few.

To be clear. I don' ridicule people for their religious beliefs unless they want to pass laws based on them or teach them in school in a stupid notion they are equal to science. These things were taught in sunday school until the wacko religious extremists decided their notion of christian doctrine was the only true American way....they want their religion to be supreme and in control. They are freaks of the lowest kind.

I've been bludgeoned with the bible by several people who considered themselves to be christians. They were piss poor human beings.

They don't have a say....except if THEY are asked to finance those procedures....they have rights too, you do realize that don't you.

And whether they have abortions or not is irrelevant to this debate....if they want to be hypocrites, that too is irrelevant...

and again....no one is being denied their right to get an abortion.....Pregnancy is not a diease.....Catholics nor any other religion should not be obligated to pay for it ...thats THEIR RIGHT...
Their religious tenets have been in force for 2 thousand years....

That said, if they bitched about helping fund HIV or Cancer research, I'd be on your side....

Parsing...

Religious people impose their beliefs on others...abortion is still legal only because their efforts to make it illegal have failed. Failing that they have made them as expensive and inaccessible as possible where they can...all in the name of some bogus moral superiority based in their personal interpretation of Jesus need to adoration...it's a real ego booster for these cretins.

I think you're one of them
