BBC actually recieves several times PBS's funding, despite being supplied by a much smaller population.

This is simply unconnected trivia. I did mention it, but only as an aside. I don't have to depend on PBS for Doctor Who because it is a channel now offered on DirectTV for which the US government doesn't pay a dime.

The reality is that Big Bird makes a ton of cash and will do fine without funding from the federal government.

I don't know if you have any children or relatives young enough to want Sesame Street items; but have you seen what they charge for a toy that resembles one of the characters?
I guess if they had more money, they could sell the toys for less :palm:
