The University of California Davis will pay out nearly $1 million to settle the claims of students who were pepper-sprayed during a campus protest last year.

Each of 21 current and former University of California Davis students will receive $30,000 in a settlement made public Wednesday.

An additional $100,000 will be set aside for claims from others affected.


The University of California also will pay $250,000 in plaintiffs' attorney fees plus $20,000 to the American Civil Liberties Union.


The settlement also calls for UC Davis Chancellor Linda Katehi to provide a personal, individual written apology for the incident to each of the plaintiffs.

It was so worth it, whats even funnier, the state of California just raised tution again on them. Suck it up bitches.
 
From what I just heard it cost the University $2 million and I think they'll think twice before they attack peaceful protestors like this again. Good job!!

It's pepper spray. Ya the officers were out of line but really?

Pepper spray isn't radical violence, castration with a broken bottle is radical violence.
 
Pepper spray can blind and one woman miscarried during this kind of attack with pepper spray in NY. You have a short memory if you forget how brutal these attacks with pepper spray were on OWS protesters.

Where is your support for 1st amendment rights? Only if you agree with it.....

What is there to indicate that UC Davis was responsible? That money just comes out of taxpayers doesn't it? And what happened to the cop?

Justice served, Democrat style. Always there to stand up for the little guys by making sure some other little guy pays and the real perpetrator (the cop) is protected.
 
The cop was eventually fired and the money ultimately comes from the institution. Free college education ended years ago. That 'little guy was an authoritarian ass hole who was acting on orders from another authoritarian asshole. Assholes need to be reigned in fool. If one of those kids had been mine I'd have been all over them like white on rice for what they did. There was NO reason for it. As it was I was furious over the assaults I was seeing..
 
someone tell me what makes this any worse than the misconduct incidents I post about? is it just because it's the liberal flavor of the year that was assaulted?
