History Quiz for Conservatives....

I don't know, and edited my post to say that. Rana had some good points that I agree with.

How successful was Rmoney as governor? He didn't create good jobs and didn't end up with high approval ratings. I believe Jimmy Carter was a successful businessman although not on Rmoney's scale, but most people think he flopped as prez.

Does being a junior senator from Illinois for two years qualify you?

How about being a community organizer?

There is obviously no boiler plate that says if you have done X you will be a successful President. We all look differently at what we feel a President should have in their background.

But my original response to Rana based on her question what I think should be done in the economy stands the same whether it's Obama, Romney or Johnson who wins the Presidency.

(As an aside you said Massachuttes didn't add good jobs during Romney's term. I thought a bunch of state government jobs were added on his watch. Are state government jobs not good ones?)

How about someone whose only jobs outside politics were as waiter, fitness trainer and Wienermobile driver? Is this the kind of guy we want only a heartbeat away from the presidency?

The unemployment rate was under 5% when he left office. He was a Republican Governor in a heavily Democratic state.

MA ranking 47th in job creation suggests his abilities weren't so great, no matter what the job. I thought most of them were minimum wage but could be wrong, I haven't looked it up.

LOL... tell us again how they came up with the 47th ranking? Seriously, this is the most debunked parroting point the left has... yet they continue to chirp away.

LOL... what was it when he started vs. where he ended.

She said he didn't do a good job with jobs. That is incorrect.

According to factcheck.org

A campaign ad that praises Mitt Romney’s performance as governor of Massachusetts presents a slanted view of his record on jobs, unemployment and taxes. To every claim, there is a “yes, but” qualifier.

The Romney ad claims that as governor, “Romney had the best jobs record in a decade.” Yes — Massachusetts added more net jobs during Romney’s four years in office than during the four-year period of either his predecessor or successor. But — that ignores the national recessions before and after Romney’s time in office. If you look at how Massachusetts stacked up on job creation compared with other states, Romney actually fared worse than his predecessor and successor.
The ad claims Romney “reduced unemployment to just 4.7 percent.” Yes — Massachusetts’ unemployment rate went from 5.6 percent to 4.6 percent under Romney. But — the state’s unemployment rate was slightly lower than the national rate when he took office, and was roughly the same as the national rate when he left office.
The ad claims Romney “balanced every budget without raising taxes.” Yes — Romney never raised personal income taxes. But — in order to balance the budget, Romney increased government fees by hundreds of millions of dollars.
The Romney ad, called “Strong Leadership,” is another in the campaign’s theme of what would happen on “Day 1″ of a Romney presidency, and it serves as push-back against a recent Obama campaign ad that assailed Romney’s record as governor (an ad we found overreached with several claims).

What success did Carter have in Business?

He took over the family agricultural business and became wealthy.

Another successful businessman and mediocre prez was G.H.W. Bush.

How about one who was a community organizer?

You guys crack me up with the community organizer schtick. He did that for only three years but you think it defines his career.

Does anyone know what the weekly jobless numbers were between 1985 to 2005? Maybe an average.

I'm led to believe that they're around 380,000 a week at this time.
