Sorry Tom, in this case I think Darla has her facts straight and her retort was flat out hilarious and trust me, I'm in desperate need of a good laugh at the moment. As for the feminist issue, meh I can sympathize but I'm really not THAT interested. After all, I'm not on the short end of that stick. :)

Can I ask you to read the Rosie Boycott article and then comment? Can you also explain to me why you can only be a feminist if you are left wing?

She just published a book in which she claims there is a war on men, a war on Christmas, and wait for it...a war on white people. So that's the piece of shit you have aligned yourself with.

To the "article" she wrote. Let me get this straight...I'm supposed to be concerned because a some percentage of loser men are allegedly going to not go to college, purposefully seek out low-paying jobs, and then...refuse to marry me? Oh pass me my smelling salts. What a loss. Please no, my whole dream in life is to marry a whining loser with no education who works at McDonalds. This is so unfair! Couldn't you have prepared we poor bitches for this stunning blow Soc? Have you no decency?

And Helen Smith, "feminist" truly believes that men are so lazy and dumb they are going to purposefully stay uneducated, purposefully pursue low-wage jobs with no future, and play video games all night to get back at women? You know, I don't know any men like that, so I don't hold those low opinions or sweeping generalizations about them.

I know a lot of very educated men with great jobs, or businesses, who love spending time with bright, witty, accomplished women. Boy, am I lucky huh? Well, all I can say is, poor, poor Helen.

Not sure if aimed at me but I'll respond either way, been a slow morning. The problem a number of feminists face is that they irritate people, the most recent sign I've seen was one of the "What's really changed?" Signs and a nice picture of the declaration. Really? What's changed? Voting? Rape Shield laws? Owning Property? Legal Status? College Educations? This is the sort of over the top crap that pushes people away, makes them ignore actual issues and push away from feminists.

My point is that the more radical a group appears the less likely it is to gain traction with the regular people, the feminists appear from the outside to be pretty hardcore, and thus turn a number of people(including most men) off.

No, I wasn't talking to you. I honestly had not even seen your first post. I had to go back and look. I reject your premise. Here's why: I don't have a problem.

So whose problem is this you speak of? I don't think people here really get this, or believe it or whatever. I have no problem. I honestly have never seen a bigger group of male assholes all gathered in one place. Oh, don't get me wrong...such places exist. But I don't hang in them. In my personal life my SO is a feminist himself. I never have to say "do you believe this" because he says it first. I once showed him, recently in fact, a rape thread on here and he literally could not believe it. He wanted to know wtf I was doing here. I had no answer. I have two brothers. Both fathers of young girls. In my entire life i have never heard them express the shit I read here.

To repeat; I have no problem. You know who else has no problem? Most men. If you take the author's premise seriously, you're an idiot. Men are refusing to go to college and purposefully only accepting low-wage jobs in order to spite women? LOL. College is being priced out of the reach of more and more people. Men (and women btw) who are in low-wage jobs are in them because they can't find anything else. A lot of that has to do with the shrinking of manufacturing in this country, and it also has a lot to do with the successful 30 year war on unions. Only an idiot would blame feminism...or someone who could make a profit from blaming feminism like this woman...or a bitter aging male who forgot what a pair of bare tits in his hands feels like and is filled with rage. Does any of this sound like it's my problem?

I couldn't possibly care less if certain feminists, or all feminists, annoy you. Tim McVeigh blew up little children. You point to a woman holding a sign as evidence that feminists are too radical. The only people white men don't profile are white men. This has nothing to do with me.

Do you know what your main problem is? You are an aging fiftyish single female who has never known about the responsibilities of having children and being in a long term relationship. This selfishness allows you to bang on endlessly about rights but never about responsibilities. The majority of men feel much the same way and are increasingly dismayed by the antics of left wing extremists like you.

Feminism has gone too far, it is not fair or right for a women to marry a man, for instance, have an affair shortly afterwards, divorce and then get half of the assets from the marriage.

You're extrapolating beyond my argument. I'm not saying men have all the problems(though if you think life is easy for anyone then you're dreaming) my point is that rather than have a rational platform of "Hey, we're doing better but there are still some changes that can be made" a number of feminists are edging into the "MEN ARE ALL RAPISTS AND MOLESTORS" which tends to push people away. Stick with a rational argument, and you'll get better reception.


As for the economy and low wage problems, people will blame anything, the women, gays, latinos, blacks, the current generation, china, europe, the economy, gods wrath. Feminists aren't special in that way, actually heard one guy the other day claim that the economy was bad because of Ipods. People are dumb and want an excuse for why life is bad.

And as a final response, white men profile white men all the time, nationality, religion, sexual preference, job, spousal relationship, criminal history, place of birth, place of residence, education, level of income, hobby of choice(including alcohol, drugs, sports, literature etc). If all "white men" were the same, well, don't know, can't extrapolate into a world that strange.
I've got enough reading material of my own thanks, but whenever I get through it, I'm sure there'll be more.

I never claimed you said that men have all the problems. I am not dreaming or irrational. I don't know of any feminist who claims that men are all rapists and molesters. Sounds like something you are projecting onto them for whatever reasons you may have. It's certainly not a feminist claim.

I don't need or want a reception of any kind from you. I'll speak when I want and say what I want. Your reaction to it is a matter of indifference to me.

I gotta agree, that post was certainly laughable....

and totally unresponsive to the particular issues being talked about....ie, healthcare, the mythical 'war on women', the discrimination of white men, special rights only for women, etc.....

but thats all and good, its a boring subject and only attractive to the leftest of hacks to whine about.
