Yemen/Morocco/Libya/Egypt/Iran/ Tunisia experience anti -American protests

True, true.....but this exercise in bad taste and manners sure as hell didn't help. May a thousand camels piss on the rose garden of life of the smug bastard who made this obnoxious film.

Bad manners nets a murder. I don't think it's the people who made the movie that should be in the spotlight.

If you squint real hard you can believe...
Oh trust me I do. I agree whole heartedly some manipulation has gone on here. I think that in Libya in particular it's clear that this film is but a pretense for the actions of an insurgent group.

Still, we Americans tend to be niave about our first ammendment rights. I have been abroad where it's been published what some asshole in America stated and they couldn't believe not only my indiference but that the authorities would not charge them. Particularly people who come from places with authoritarian governments just can't get their heads around the fact that a person can spout the most offensive and reprehensible views and that those views are protected. It's just simply unbelievable to them and they don't even begin to understand how we tolerate it.

Hell not even authoritarian nations. I remember riding with some Britt friends when the Floyd Landis affair was occurring.Landise had made very critical comments about the UCI and my Britt friends stated how they were afraid for him when the head of the UCI threatened legal action and thought that Floyd was in deep, deep legal trouble. I was like, "The UCI will need good luck with that. Landis comments are protected free speech in the US. He can say pretty much whatever he wants too." and they simply could not believe it.

Oh I disagree with you there. Though I certainly agree that the criminals who committed these acts in Libya should certainly be in the spot light I have no problems with the asshole who made this movie being made very, very uncomfortable. With great freedoms come great responsibilities and this prick sure failed his.

And now police and law enforcement have to protect the asshole from the consequences of his actions...

Yeah, I'll admit I've never traveled where free speech isn't pretty normal. England, Canada, Australia, France... I don't have anything to discredit this with and it is very likely true. I do remember the Russians we translated for when they were here saying things like, "Those people will be arrested later" when they didn't think we could understand them... We were somewhere and they saw people protesting against the treaties lowering the numbers of nukes.

Weird. I never ran into any suggestion that I couldn't speak openly in the UK...

Looks like the idiot who made the film wasn't Jewish.

Here's one of his associates:

Steve Klein is a consultant on the film that ridiculed the prophet Muhammad and launched the recent U.S. Embassy protests in Egypt and Libya.

Klein described himself as a Christian activist and an outspoken critic of radical Islam.

"Activist" here being substituted for "A**hole"

Love how he defends insulting the founder of a religion as "being critical of radical islam".

Next time the muslims can make a movie about how jesus was a secret rapist and homosexual who liked baby murder.

The movie was a deliberate slap, anybody with half a brain should have seen the response coming.

As outrage over the anti-Muslim film "Innocence of Muslims" spreads across the Middle East, police were sent to the California home of the many they identified as the producer of the film, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, who according to authorities is frightened for his life.

Sheriff's deputies were sent to the Cerritos, California home of Nakoula, 55, Thursday to protect him and his family, a senior law enforcement official told ABC News.

According to a sheriff, the police were at Nakoula's home overnight Thursday but have now left, as media reports identifying him as the man behind "Innocence of Muslims," and listing his address, have circulated.

According to California law enforcement officials, Nakoula, who is also known to authorities as Bacily Nakoula, was frightened for his life and "scared of retaliation" against his family.

Sheriffs from the Cerritos police station were sent to his home to keep Nakoula safe and to provide a uniformed presence to assist the members from the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, official reports said.

A senior official said that they also had sent local law enforcement officers to the production company "Media for Christ" on Hamilton Road in Duarte, California to keep watch on the facility, which authorities said was affiliated with making the film that has been a trigger for anti-U.S. violence and protest in several countries.

Nakoula pleaded no contest in 2010 to federal bank fraud charges in California and was ordered to pay more than $790,000 in restitution and serve 21 months in prison.

Pretty much. However they aren't quite as visible. Basically, the leaders justify the activity then step back and watch it take shape. As you watch Mosni call for more protests, over a silly (and I do mean silly) film, or about some cartoon drawn in Denmark, or any other slight justification. That the movie and trailer are out for a long time before the stuff happens, just ignore that, it just all magically builds up on that one day... Nothing to see here, the TV news says it was because of this, and the sheeple they got to do it believe it is about this, but it isn't about this...

The whole thing is rather fishy.

Look guys, here's the deal.

You have problems with your economy. Concentrate on them. Bernanke seems to be doing the right things.

You have problems with your foreign policy (macro). Work to solve that. Obama was improving things.

You have problems with individual groups of people round the world. DONT KEEP MAKING IT WORSE. e.g. Let N Korea do what they want to do as long as they dont attack you what the hell does it matter.

Shut up. Don't talk about shining the american light - no one wants that. It makes you sound arrogant. Don't talk about 11/9. We have forgotten about it and moved on - stop whining.

Don't keep telling the rest of the world that you won't put up with this or that. We ALL have to put up with stuff we dont like. Shut up about it.

While you are about it do something about the loonies who daily place america in greater danger than it already is in.

Get on with your lives and allow the rest of the world to do likewise.

Your shit stinks like everyone else's.

Wait you mean america isn't "the leader of the free world"?

How can that be?
