Now I know that the R's will go crazy about this and say that if you look deeper than the unemployment rate you will see that things are not good, but sorry its the declining headline number that matters to most voters, especally the undecided ones.

President Obama is coming out of his convention with a tailwind at his back with this number.

Its a lot better than the numbers we were getting last time a Republican was in office.

i would hope D's would be unhappy about it as well...especially given obama's promises.

what were the numbers at the end of bush's first term?

We were losing huge numbers of jobs every quarter. We are currently gaining small numbers of jobs every quarter.

You really don't believe this do you? If you believe this then you don't know how the number is calculated and you are hoping that the voters are just as ignorant. They are not.

So tell me how losing jobs at a huge rate is better than gaining jobs at a slow rate?

The decline in the jobless rate, from 8.3 percent in July, came primarily because the labor force participation rate fell to 63.5 percent, its worst level in more than 30 years. The civilian labor force contracted by 368,000.

Another record for the democrats to own, on top of the "Record 46 Million Americans Are on Food Stamps" and also passing the 16 trillion in US Debt. mark.

If in the next job report that number drops below 8% .. say bye-bye to Romney.

For someone who claims to not like OWEbama, you sure go out of your way to spin and defend for him.

But, I will play along with your speculation. Does that mean that if the next jobs report stays above 8% or rises that OWEbama is history?

Actually, it is not apples to apples. This is an epic fail on your part and a callous manipulation of data.

If you want to compare apples to apples, compare Bush's first four years to Obama's first four years. You are cherry picking data. Either you are ignorant of that fact and blindly read without comprehension or you are deliberately trying to mislead. Which is it?

Now here is a legitimate apples to apples comparison.

EPIC FAIL!!!!

Eh, maybe not. Obama was big with the youth vote, which is one of the highest unemployments blocs (the other being veterans, which kinda overlaps).

very true. and if we go off some dems who are have come to realize obama is not what he claims to be....then obama can only benefit if the number jumps below 7%, eg, the economy picks up incredible steam. which is unlikely in two months, as we no longer live in bubble economies. at least i hope we don't.

i will give obama this, i think he truly believed he could do most of what he claimed. he just didn't have any real world experience. and when he was running, i think he truly believed he could do whatever he wanted in washington. for about two years, he could have...but he squandered it because of his lack of experience.

If Obama should be blamed for anything, it would be assuming he'd be able to get some help from restoring the economy from across the aisle.

His assumption that obstructionist Righties would let him accomplish ANYTHING was naive.

Obama couldn't even get ONE vote from his own party for his 2 attempts at getting HIS budgets passed......hes a loser...

Obama couldn't even get ONE vote from his own party for his 2 attempts at getting HIS budgets passed......hes a loser...

And WHY was that exactly?

Because Obstructionist RIGHTIES placed bullshit amendments in each budget that they knew NO Democrat would vote for.

A pity obstructionist Righties couldn't just vote on the budget.
