A federal judge has given former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman (D) permission to travel to Charlotte, N.C., next week to attend the Democratic National Convention.

The convention is a week before Siegelman is to report to a federal prison in Louisiana to finish his 78-month sentence.

U.S. District Judge Mark Fuller said Siegelman can travel to Charlotte Sept. 3-6. Fuller ordered Siegelman to advise his probation officer of his flight plans and hotel plans.

Siegelman plans to lobby at the convention for President Obama to grant his request for clemency.

Fuller said Siegelman was not a flight risk and could go to the convention. But he repeated a concern he expressed at the sentencing hearing that Siegelman "continues to question the integrity" of the judicial system.

Has anybody figured out why he was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison?

....and, just because this forum depends largely on the opinions of its members, tell us pray, do you have ANY opinions of your own? ANY at all? ... Just ONE?... if you really try?

He was the victim of probably the most crooked political machine this nation has ever seen.

Not in Floriduh, if our gov has his way.

Good ol Wiki...source of dimwits!
Yes nobody ever commits crimes, all those shootings are just made up, and robberies never occur.

Assuming nobody is guilty is even dumber than assuming everyone is guilty.

right....he couldn't possibly have been guilty....he's a Democrat!.....

:rofl2:

When Obama is booted out and Romney wins the election, Obama will pardon him and the rest of the criminals waiting for pardons, like former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D), his buddy Tony Rezko, Rep. William "Cold Cash" Jefferson (D).
