GOP Senate Candidate: Rape pregnancy the same as out-of-wedlock birth

I am not trying to do so. I am simply pointing out that there are differing levels of violence in rapes. I do not believe that should be ignored.

You just finished saying it was all about the victim. Now it's all about the violence committed? Sorry, but you're now contradicting yourself. No one needs to make the distinction about the violence because the act of penetration itself is violent and violative, and the effects are subjective, hence attempting to use this 'differing levels' bullshit in order to gauge the damage is not only ineffective but irrelevant. In fact, it's the same crap used by assholes like the guy in the OP.

First of all, it was a woman writing in the OP.

Second of all, there is no contradiction is what I have said. I think ignoring the level of violence is a rape is a disservice to the victim.

One of the things that victims of violent rape have the most problem with is that the bastard will come back and do it again. They live in fear of it. Ignoring the violence is ignoring a major portion of what happened to the victim.

Tom Smith is a woman? Really?

No one is doing a disservice to rape victims other than the ones who feel the need to distinguish the difference based on ancillary violence - the ACT of rape itself, WITHOUT any ancillary violence, is what determines rape, not how badly brutalized the woman was in addition to the rape. That you continue to focus on that is a disservice. No one's "ignoring" any of the violence, EXCEPT YOU, who continues to need to make the distinction. 'Violent' rape - it's worse than what, WB? 'Regular' rape? Who's doing rape victims a disservice, WB?

My mistake, I was referring to the article Tom posted. Tom Smith is simply another idiot without a clue.

As for my focus, I am not saying any rape is non-violent. I am not saying that any rape is ok or acceptable. The claims that I am are simply bogus.

But the levels of violence DO make a difference in the effects on the victim and on their recovery.

And to what extent those levels make a difference is indiscernible to you because the effects of the trauma and damage are subjective. You're grasping at straws. Quit while you're behind.

I am basing my opinion on the views of people who have experienced both.

You're basing your opinion on the effects of how many who've experienced both? One, two, a few? Certainly you cannot know the effects on everyone who's been raped and/or savagely abused, and that's why your opinion doesn't qualify you to know.

I never claimed to know the effect on everyone. Which is why I have argued against the "One size fits all" categorization.

I can only base my opinions on what I have seen and what I know. To suppose otherwise is nonsense.

Just admit that you're wrong, WB. You're sounding like a whiner now. Just admit it like a man. Jeez.

Oh please. Try that "be a man" bullshit someplace else.

Its funny, I base my opinion on experiences of people who have been thru both. That doesn't cover everyone, but it does give some evidence. You base yours on what again?

Sorry. Regardless of the level of violence, rape is rape.

there are degrees of murder. maybe there should be degrees for rape.....

i am not aware of our culture downplaying rape simply because there was no violence.

i think bijou and darla and off their rocker.

These are the same asses that will defend the Muslims.....the very culture that treats women in the most vilest ways and then rant and rave that
its the US Christians that condone those vile abuses....
BAC quoting alleged craziness from that Bible that describes the very actions that are common and condoned and protected in the Muslim world, then
implies that its the Christians that believe and support and commit those things in todays United States.....

there are more than a couple in this thread that are off their freakin' rockers......unbelievably and insanely partisan.....
