The argument on a Franklin Township school bus wasn’t particularly unusual. One student had taken a seat that another wanted for himself. But to Lora Hoagland, what followed was horrifying — a 15-year-old attacking her younger, smaller son for nearly a full minute, the image captured on a cellphone video taken by another student on the bus as it left the parking lot at Franklin Township Middle School East on Wednesday afternoon.
According to a police report, the fight began when the 15-year-old approached Caleb, told him he was in his seat and threatening to throw him out if he didn’t move. A witness told the school police officer that the 15-year-old then “pushed (Caleb) very hard in his seat and hit his head against the window. (Caleb) recovers, stands up and pushes (the 15-year-old) back.’’
At that point, according to the report, the 15-year-old pushed Caleb to the floor, where he fell on his hands and knees. The report states that the 15-year-old “then began to throw multiple punches with a closed fist to his upper body. ... No punches were thrown by Caleb.’’
The cellphone video, according to the police report, helped to substantiate Caleb’s and other witnesses’ account of the attack and will be used as evidence.
Guess this is what Obama meant about getting in the back of the bus.
