Does anyone know? 2

If those who don't believe in God are so sure of their belief, then why are they so worried about those that do?
I don't believe that I've seen any of the regular posters on here, trying to "convert" anyone; but there seems to be an unending line of those wanting to challange that God exists.

No one's 'worried' - it's called a DISCUSSION.

Please describe how it's a "discussion"; when the majority of what's done, by the non-believers, is to denigrate and insult.

That's your perception and opinion, and differing opinions often insult people. Oh well. You should find something else to do if that's too painful for you. ;)

I never said it was painful; but it does appear that the nonbelievers are the ones in pain and are trying to lessen the pain, by sharing it.

I have often said that I believe some so-called Atheists are bigger believers in God than some so-called Christians. They believe in God, they are just angry at God over some 'injustice' they feel he is responsible for in their life, and thus, they seek to destroy faith in God by others, as a means of punishing God. They do this through ridicule and obnoxious insults, while claiming "science" as both their shield of protection and sword of battle.

This is somewhat similar to someone who suffers a loss and they blame it on the doctor, the boss, or someone else and in an attempt to make sense of their loss, they assign the responsibility to that person they find most conveniant.

I know it sounds cold; but sometimes things happen, because things happen.

Awwwwwwwww...lookie who found him a new friend!

Dixie and USF are a match made in heaven.

Two morons who refuse to accept facts unless they are in line with what both posters already believe.

I'm all about facts... too bad you haven't presented any!

Neither has LowIQ, after proclaiming that science has proven there is no God.

Like I said to USF... you want to use "science" as your shield and sword.

The question you people should have to answer, is what did God do to you that has made you so angry at Him?

You left out "... or what did God NOT do for you that has made you so angry..."

The question you people should have to answer, is what did God do to you that has made you so angry at Him?

That assumes any of us think God exists in the first place. For any of us to be "angry" at him, he'd have to exist. He doesn't. Another theory down the toilet...got any more?

Again, I am pretty sure you DO believe God exists, or else it wouldn't matter one iota to you, what other people believed. You don't see USF and I running around convincing children not to believe in Santa or the Easter Bunny! We don't care if they do! It doesn't matter one iota to us, if they want to do so. It's certainly not the purpose of our internet message board existence that we spend every waking hour trying to refute and discredit! But this is what we see with the God-haters.

You are absolutely correct, for you to be so vitriolic and angry about people believing in him, you must believe he exists, there is no other rational explanation. Now you're not going to admit that here to us, because this completely blows your cover, and you may have actually convinced yourself that you are among the 5% of the world who doesn't believe in anything greater than self, but I don't believe you.

Wrong again, or should I say, still? It doesn't matter to me what other people believe; it's what they do that matters - like, for instance, hating on gays and hiding behind 'god's word' to justify it.

You don't see USF and I running around convincing children not to believe in Santa or the Easter Bunny!

Relevance?

That's your perception; it doesn't mean it's accurate. And the term 'god-hater' speaks volumes about you, not me. Remember - from my vantage point, there's nothing to hate, because God doesn't exist.

Nopes, I already laid waste to your theory, go back and re-read.

Now you're not going to admit that here to us, because this completely blows your cover, and you may have actually convinced yourself that you are among the 5% of the world who doesn't believe in anything greater than self, but I don't believe you.

See above.

Here's your words exactly:

Similarly there is physical evidence to show that a supernatural being does not and never has existed unless you deny the basic laws of physics that make your own life on this planet possible.

Now assuming you comprehend that "physical evidence" equals "proof" I think you clearly stated this. Unless someone has access to your ID.

I am not going to call you a fool, Dixie. You have made a common mistake. Evidence does NOT mean proof. I was quite particular in my use of words since I knew you or some of the others would misconstrue.
Here is an allegory.

Jim was in Joe's house alone. When Joe came home Jim was gone and so was Joe's laptop.
When the police visited Jim's house they found Joe's laptop.
Physical evidence to show that Jim stole Joe's laptop. Evidence that then needs to be proven by the collection of more evidence.

How many scenarios can you come up with to show that Jim is or is not guilty of theft? But the physical and known evidence is there for all to see.

By your logic poor Jim would be hanging from an old oak tree somewhere in the desert by now.

Most atheists, and I include myself in this, don't give a damn for religion or the adherents of religion. Religion does not impinge on their lives at all. However, when injustices are promoted in the name of religion, as human beings, atheists often express their opinions.
One cannot fear things that do not exist (yes, I know some children are scared of monsters and things). Now when parents insist that their children believe in one particular untruth then we should all become concerned.
(before I go any further I need to say that my wife follows a faith based religion and I allowed her to bring our two children up in that church. Daughter has stuck to her faith, son has given it up.)
The benefits that I saw of a religious education were that where we lived when we were first married was not known for its outstanding education. The local Catholic school was consistently obtaining better results and believed in a little discipline.
Most atheists do not resort to ridicule unless they contribute to a forum such as this which appears to have some of the most narrow minded religious zealots as contributors.
The insults, as can be readily seen from this thread, tend to come from the theist side.
The temptation to hurl insults when faced with people who say they believe the earth is flat or that it is only 6000 years old or that some unknown and unproven figment of imagination created everything we see about us, is often too great.
You have said you are 'spiritual' rather than a believer in a god. That's fine with me and most people I guess. I will engage you but I will not ridicule you unless you ridicule me and others. Your sig line tends to ridicule.
I will however ridicule you for your politics and the silliness of your politicians. After all we have to have a smile every now and then. That's just human.

It is the task of those of us who can see how religion is used and why otherwise intelligent people 'fall' for it, to show by example and to quietly, without too many insults, demonstrate how the progress of man has been stifled and how it holds prisoner those who believe its various untruths.

So if this is true then it is the task of both the religious AND non-religious to convert people to their way of thinking. Interesting...
