Admit it Dems: Ryan scares the shit out of you

Oh that Paul Ryan is so very scary. :rofl2:

Paul Ryan Is Still Unknown, Has Vulnerable Budget Plan, Polls Show

WASHINGTON -- Polls show that Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney's pick as vice presidential running mate, was still unknown to a majority of Americans as Romney announced his selection on Saturday. While Ryan's controversial budget plan has suffered in similar obscurity, polling also shows that it will be a potential weakness for Republicans because of a wider debate over its impact. It explains why Democrats are already leaping at the chance to make the Ryan budget a central focus of the fall campaign.

Obama could not have picked a better VP choice for Romney than Paul Ryan.

It is a Rep district when you look at number of Reps vs. Dems that are registered. But it is a swing district. It is close that it could go either way. But Dung wants to pretend like this is a Rep safe seat and it is no big deal that Ryan consistently gets almost 2/3 of all of the voters to vote for him.

I was thinking about this last night... and then it hit me. How reliable is Ryan for bringing home the pork?

I'm sure many repubs in WVA hated Byrd's positions on some issues but he was consistent in taking care of their needs, that's why the state made him the longest-serving member in Congressional history.

But Obama's "death panels" were OK?

Where does that put right-wing lunatics according to you?

Are you aware that Medicare and Social Security are the only things keeping millions of Americans alive?

No, calling them death panels was rhetoric. They took the panels that will evaluate the procedures on a cost effective basis and turned it into political rhetoric.

Yes, I am very aware of the benefits of Medicare and SS. Which is why we must act to save them. You are aware that both are underfunded? Social security is a fairly easy fix. Medicare is not. We have to act on Medicare now or your kids and grandkids won't have any version of it when they get older... though they will still be paying off the debt accumulated by your generation. Not blaming you specifically by any means, but rather using your family's three generations as an example.

A good question and a fair one. I do not know the answer to that. I will see if I can find it.

As I have stated all along, this is going to be decided by the economy.

Yes, Romney and Ryan have a very good chance of winning. A guarantee? Absolutely not. But pretending that Ryan is unelectable given that he has managed to get elected in a toss up district in WI consistently is nothing short of absurd.

The Dems will certainly try to once again divert the focus onto social issues, while ignoring their incompetence in trying to pull this country out of an economic downturn. But Ryan and Romney will continue hammering on the economy. Ryan will destroy Biden in a debate... the Dems know it.

I think Romney stands a better chance with Ryan than with any of the others on his list. I am not lashing out dearest little Darla... that is you and the left. I posted an article from the Onion. You all went off.

Well.....since we know you are not retarded, you are obviously delusional....wait, no you are not. Even you can't possibly believe this bullshit.

Uh oh... looks like that pick is really hammering Romney... 2 point increase for Romney since last month... for the brain dead... pay attention, that 2 point increase is in reference to Rasmussen only... we have yet to see if others trend the same way, all other polls were done prior to the pick.

With you post you prove you actually are an idiot.
Thankyou. Next time, think then type.

No need to. I already posted it.

Here's some more...seems like he used to love pork before he decided to break out his own Etch A Sketch and go all Palin!

But when it comes to helping out his district in southern Wisconsin, Ryan's principles have been flexible.

Ryan was never a fan of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, as the stimulus is officially known. He voted against it when it came to the House floor in 2009, as did every other House Republican, and he railed against it in frequent TV appearances.

"Temporary stimulus does not work," he said on CNBC. "It does not give businesses confidence to invest in jobs and capital for the future. It's just sort of sugar-high economics."

But despite his denunciations of the measure, Ryan made sure his constituents were not left out when the money was divvied up. When the Energy Center of Wisconsin, a nonprofit that promotes energy-efficient buildings, sought Ryan's help in obtaining stimulus money, he came through.

Stimulus, TARP, Auto Bailout

"We asked the entire Wisconsin congressional delegation for support of several proposals that we were submitting under that funding, and Rep. Ryan did support a couple of the proposals that we submitted," said Leslie Post, a spokeswoman for the Energy Center.

The Energy Center received nearly $250,000 in stimulus money thanks in part to Ryan's efforts. The Wisconsin Energy Conservation Corp. did even better, receiving a $20 million grant for energy-efficiency projects.

There have been other occasions where Ryan has acted for his constituents in ways that might not please the most ardent Tea Party supporters. He voted for the auto industry bailout, which Romney opposed. Ryan's hometown, Janesville, Wis., was home to a since-shuttered GM plant. He also voted for the Troubled Asset Relief Program to rescue the financial industry, saying during House debate that though it violated his principles, it was necessary to prevent a banking crisis.

"Why does that matter to us? Why does that matter to Janesville, Wis.?" he asked at the time. "If it goes the way it could go, that means credit shuts down, businesses can't get money to pay their payroll to pay their employees, students can't get student loans for next semester, people can't get car loans, seniors may not have access to their savings."

Opposition To Earmarks

Ryan has also worked for his 1st District constituents in less public ways.

John Beckord, president of the economic development group Janesville Forward, says Ryan only has to be asked and he'll pick up the phone to help recruit a new company to the area.

"A call from Paul Ryan to a CEO of that company is, I think, most often accepted, and Paul at the very least, I think, can encourage that CEO to at least take a look," Beckord said

Beckord says Ryan helped Janesville land Shine Medical Technologies, a company that makes radioactive isotopes used to treat melanomas; the company is receiving a multimillion-dollar federal grant.

Still, some in Janesville wish Ryan would do more. Earlier in his congressional career, he delivered more than $5 million in earmarks to his district, according to Taxpayers for Common Sense. Ryan has since renounced the use of earmarks, though Beckord says not everyone agrees with that position.

"There are people in the community who wish someone with the stature of Congressman Ryan might help us get some earmarks for this or that," he said.

How does repealing $700 billion in cost savings over 10 years help Medicare? That's what Romney has said he would do and apparently Ryan is on board with that. It makes no sense.

Jesus Christ. Those are the Medicare "cuts" that we've heard about since 2009. I'm not digging up a link to something that has been discussed ad nauseum.

Oh, you are referring to the part of the ACA that proclaims it will cut fees to doctors/hospitals, but then want us to ignore when Congress does its standard doc fix. So in other words, they aren't going to promise cuts that won't happen. Understood... they are going for actual solutions, not gimics

Interesting stuff, but like, how does promising to repeal those costs savings, as Romney and Ryan have pledged to do, help Medicare? How is pledging to repeal those cost savings an actual solution?

They're going to extend the life of Medicare by adding $700 billion in costs over 10 years? That makes a lot of sense.

Here we have our first proud state-sanctioned rape supporter stepping up. Are you hoping they give you a turn with the wand?

I don't have the ability to have children, but I do have an opinion on your murder of them.

Those "cost savings" you are speaking of come about by denying seniors treatment through the edicts of a non medical governmental board who will make the decision whether or not you are worth the cost of treatment...Wonderful.
