That's why he prepared an out for our disobedient actions. Do you know what that might be?Ohhhh. The sin, huh. The sin that was invented and named by man. So he doesn't hate what he made, but he does hate what you made. Nice guy!

I find the notion of God absolutely ridiculous.
That's why he prepared an out for our disobedient actions. Do you know what that might be?
No more ridiculous than the actual existence of something men call god.
God hates the sin, not the sinners.

God does not hate.
There is no "out". One of the most ridiculous things about christians is their belief that sinning is ok because God will forgive you. Here's a thought. How about not sinning so there's nothing to forgive?

So, there never was 'nothing' right.....matter always existed and came from....from.....from......some magical nothing ?
The laws of physics just evolved randomly?
Life just showed up accidentally.....
and the vast universes around us will always be......and you think the existence of God is ridiculous ?
I can understand being an agnostic, its perfectly logical.....but not the arrogance of atheism....
Sure seems to be a lot of people genuinely scared of religion.

How 'bout that?
There's no virtue in doing what's right in pursuit of heavenly payoff.
There's equally no virtue in doing wrong. I personally don't have a lot of patience for forgiveness. I tend not to forgive myself for any faults I commit, and it helps to keep me in check as much as possible (a lot to be said for Catholic guilt, actually). While I have access to the sacrement of reconciliation, I tend to view it as more of a test of humility and obedience than I do of addressing actual sins, all of which will no doubt be re-offended. As for the line people are giving about love of the sinner, I have a hard time buying it. It's not that God would dismiss the sinner for committing a sin, it's that the sinner may actually care, and strive to improve himself. There's no difference to me between a professed Christian who sins without any remorse, and an atheist running amok because he believes that he has no one to answer to. Both of them are arrogant and narcissistic snot buckets who work diligently at dragging down society its supply of morality and virtue.
I feel violated. This was my argument with Granule about religion, and now it has been stolen from me.
You're a victim of dogma. Religious, cultural, military, or whatever. Or all of the above, it doesn't matter. What matters is how it limits you, and how it fosters a shamelessness when judging others. Your stupid assumption that the only possible comparison to remorseless Christian is an "atheist...running amok" is a perfect example of both the dogma and its limits, and the erroneous judgments fostered. And your praising Catholic guilt as a substitute for a moral compass reinforces the point that people use religion and faith as a substitute for conscious thought and reasoning, so thank you for demonstrating that point for us.
You'd do well to park your arrogance and pick up a book or two. Christians are no more or less prone to run amok than atheists. Atheists simply have no built-in, dogmatic excuse, like the devil made them do it, or they're just sinners, don'tcha know. When atheists are scumbags, it's simply because they've chosen to be scumbags. It's no one's fault but their own.
Uh, one must have a moral compass in order to feel guilt. I also don't think that hypocritical/unrepentent Christians or hedonistic atheists define their groups. Nietzsche couldn't stomach the excessive hedonism he witnessed around him in his college years, for example. As for my own arrogance, I missed the part where I belted out an "I'm better than you" in my post. I am, as it happens, but that wasn't relevant to my post, so I left it out.
