pastor has to marry a black couple at another church

One more thing, how many of those god fearing Christians that don't like Obama or his policies don't see race first?
Good lord. Only the niave or those in denial would even attempt to refute that. I'd say probably upwards to a quarter of the electorate oppose Obama primarily on his race.

i have never heard anyone say that soc. the people who i think always see racism and are over sensitive are far left wing nut jobs who are mostly white.
Really? So the redneck asshole who called my wife a "slope" and the aging rock star who told her "Don't interupt white peoples conversations." and the moron soft racist who told her "You're such a credit to your race" were just figments of her (and mine) imagination? You're in lala land Yurt.

That's a new one, what's a slope?

Remember when Rush Limbaugh said "Obama is a good candidate because he is clean an articulate". Wait that was Joe Biden

Remember when Rush Limbaugh said "I know white niggers"? Wait, that wasn't him that was Robert "Sheets" Byrd.

Sorry, but I won't be lectured on race by someone who belongs to a political party that created the KKK, Jim Crow laws and up to a few years ago had a klan member serving in the senate

This sounds like Southern Man!!

I didn't. But when supporters of the president say things like this:

http://www.tmz.com/2012/02/11/barack-obama-samuel-l-jackson/

then it makes things very difficult to get past his race. You get what you vote for, Socrtease, and skin tone is what we got. Perhaps this time around enough of the Left will smarten up and look beyond that..... but I wouldn't count on it.

yes i know. and i was quite clear in quoting her article, which it now appears you never read. let me quote her again:

You're quoting an article that I'VE never read? :0)

First, HER name is John McWhorter .. the she you keep reffering to .. and whose picture is right on the front of the article.

Additionally, I guess you somehow missed this .. which is right near the beginning of the article ..

So, in answer to the question, "Is America past racism against black people," I say the answer is yes.

Your original claim is that no one has said racism is over .. now, once again, you want to change your argument when faced with the evidence.

now....can you actually provide me one link where someone says there will be ZERO racism because of obama's election? i keep asking....and you keep not providing.

NOW, your argument is no one said there would be ZERO racism.

If you can't argue a point honestly .. what's the point of arguing it at all.

trayvon martin....sheesh. yeah...there is racism in prison, there is not an assault and the war on drugs is against everyone, not just black people.

racism is not over, but i still have yet to see anyone, other than the poorly worded title of the article, say racism is over. your own article states there will still be racism. you want me to end the "noise" it was not said because your article in fact stated there would still be racism?

please.

Re: the war on drugs...

(Reuters) - Black Americans are 10 times more likely to be imprisoned for illegal drug offenses than whites, even though both groups use and sell drugs at the same rate, according to a study released on Tuesday.
Almost all large counties in the United States showed sharp disparities along racial lines in the sentencing of drug offenders, the study by the Washington-based Justice Policy Institute showed.
There were 1.5 million drug arrests out of 19.5 million drug users in 2002, it said. About 175,000 people were incarcerated for a drug offense, of which half were black, even though blacks account for 13 percent of the U.S. population, it said.

The beauty is that they found a place that WOULD marry them. So what? It is called the freedom to assemble and you have the right to do so based on any reason, whether it be color, race or creed. That isn't to say it is right or wrong, just that you have the right to do it.

I know that libbie heads will be exploding, but they only show their ignorance of the 1st Amendment thinking it only protects their right to porn

Do you not understand the travesty this church makes of Christianity?

Not at all. You are trying to force your secular beliefs on them. Which makes you te intolerant bigot. You don't see that of course since you reflexively support anything the gays wan you think that makes you open minded. It really only makes you a tool

there is a difference between no and zero? good lord. seriously? fine...."no racism".... tell me how that is different than zero racism?

let us cite his words again:

Of course, nothing magically changed when Obama was declared president-elect. However, our proper concern is not whether racism still exists, but whether it remains a serious problem. The election of Obama proved, as nothing else could have, that it no longer does.

I make that claim while quite sure that in 2009, a noose or three will be hung somewhere, some employer will be revealed to have used the N-word on tapes of a meeting, and so on. America will remain imperfect, as humans have always been.

you're twisting his words. he flat out says racism will still exist.

I can't get over this. The dude should be fired for doing it at another church and not standing up to this. I would never, and I do mean never, attend this church based on the fact that the pastor is such a coward that he could not do what he knew to be the right thing.

I would have done the wedding then my next sermon would have been about it. Shame on this coward for caving to save a job.

As usual you are missing the point. They were able to get married. Are you saying that everyone should be able to get what they want whenever they want and the person providing the service cannot say no?

Apparently there were plenty of people who would marry them, so who cares if this one church won't? If enough of the congregation disagrees they will go elsewhere.

It is really none of your business, but I guess you need a cause and want to show the 1% of queers that you are "down wif da struggle"
