When Did Feminism Become So Embarrassing?

This thread I think really shows why. Feminists are ugly. Feminists are loud mouths. Marcotte is right...it has always taken women willing to suffer consequences to advance feminism and feminist goals. Not all or even most women at up to the task. You have to be willing to stop mewling for the approval of a doddering fruitcake like Tom, and a masturbating monkey like Voltaire and his friend 3 d. Our culture privileges male approval over almost everything. I understand women who can't stand up to that. In mayer's case she likely has always had other priorities. Climbing the ladder in a field notoriously hostile to women for one. Identifying as a feminist in the tech world would almost definitely have changed the course of her career.

I have never insulted you and I'm not about to start now. If you want to know about women in the science world then I suggest that you read about Grace Hopper, Ada Lovelace, Rosalind Franklin, Hedy Lamarr, Marie Curie, Maria Mayer, Jocelyn Bell Burnell, Rita Levi-Montalcini and Lise Meitner.

As far as birth control pills, they did not just "appear" given to us by men. Someone should look up the long and storied history of birth control activists, the advent of Planned Parenthood, and then later, the fight to overturn laws preventing women from having access to the pills.

Fucking morons.

Just because I refuse to embrace Gloria Steinem's version of "equality" does not mean that I am a chauvinist, or that I believe men are somehow better equipped to lead. What I am suggesting is that Gloria Steinem's brand of feminism has done nothing to actually advance women's success in the workplace. On the contrary, it is a hindrance. Women who associate with that faction have "sexual harassment lawsuit" written all over them. Like it or not, that's how the cookie crumbles.

If you really respected the "feminists" you would realize, like Bijou has said, that it is men and media who have allowed Gloria to define feminism. It is really a shame. If you did truly support equal rights, you would understand Gloria's place in the movement and realize she is but a very small piece in the whole puzzle.

Another non-sequitur post having nothing to do with anything but giving Tom a chance to impress other idiots with the level of his "knoweldge".

you insult me and any thinking woman nearly every time you post.

It's hilarious (when it's not astonishingly presumtuous) to hear man-boys like yurt and barbie-adorers like xylaphone scorn the movement because its loudest proponents weren't attractive or genteel. Rather than offering an objective view which would have to include the blatant backlash that came from the threatened societal patriarchs, all obstacles to the movement's success are blamed on the feminists' lack of charisma. Oh, if only Steinem had been a little nicer.

:rofl2:

It occurs to me that now that i have been made aware that I can purchase 6,000 rounds with a few clickS of my mouse, there are solutions to this thread I had not previously considered.

There is no one anywhere more annoying than yurt who is a little tit mouse...squeaky, small, and fast he moves from thread to thread leaving his droppings.

actually, i used rana as a good example of the movement. thus, i did not scorn the whole movement because of jerks like you and darla.

you two are pathetic.

is this another shining example of your feminism?

and you wonder why so many have negative views. jerks like you are responsible for that.

and to think i gave you kudos earlier. you just demeaned women the world over with this post. as if they can't think for themselves and need men and media to tell them what to think.

the shame is your attitude.

My point is I don't share the respect that some on here have for those people. I read Fear of Flying once and found it to be intensely boring. I even tried to read Betty Friedan back in the '70s but I couldn't get through more than a few pages.

I think that this really epitomizes male entitlement. Here is a fool who has been told his entire life that his opinions hold great weight and importance. A naval-gazing, self-important, pompous asshole obsessed with the smell of his own various bodily emissions. So much so that he actually believes that a movement that improved the lives and alleviated the suffering of an untold number of women can be dismissed because he is too stupid to get through a book.

He’s as important as the pimple on a dog’s ass, but this guy thinks his opinion of feminist thinkers is enough to discredit a movement that changed the world.

That’s male entitlement right there. Fucking unbelievable. And delusional.

wow....talk about gender bias. you're a bigot darla.
