Fatal shooting at Denver screening of The Dark Knight Rises

do you understand that that kind of a reesponse comes out of your own fear?

Your brain is trying to construct a reasoning as to why the victims are not like you.

your thoughts are a way of telling yourself "this cant happen to me".

Or I could be wondering why anyone takes a 3 month old to a midnight screening of Batman. Sometimes it just is what it is, but thanks for your pseudo psycho analysis

right. tell me you don't call the police or hope someone else does if you're the victim of an ongoing assault.

Never been a victim of an assault, ongoing or not. But of course one would call the police. They are employed precisely for that. I dont know about your police, but ours have to account, in detail, for every time they fire a bullet, and they are in big trouble if even one bullet has been fired unnecessarily. So does that justify guns in the hands of civilians? Not for me it doesn't.
It is illegal here to have in your possession even one single spent cartridge as I discovered when I wanted to purchase cartridges from the famous 'Noonday Gun' and mount them as company give-aways.

So I get up on this rather hot Sunday, take a leisurely breakfastnd stroll to my computero see what has been saidabout this shooting while I slept.
What a bunch of crap!
Even from those who are usually sensible.
This gun, that gun, this ammendment, that ammendment, this calibre, that calibre, this size, that size.
STOP STOP STOP STOP
The answer lies NOT in what you carry in your hand, the answer is what you carry in your head!
When I was very young we all had cap pistols and played cops and robbers and cowboys and indians and if we didnt have a cap pistol we had a piece of wood or just our fingers. We died, terrible lingering hollywood deaths in the street.
Then we grew out of it and our interests moved on to, I dunno, bird watching or train spotting or something, then we discovered girls and music and fashion and jobs.
Grow up America!
Find something healthier to occupy your immature minds.
Bang bang, your dead doesn't mean your mate falls over and then gets up to play again.
YOUR mates,
YOUR citizens DONT wake up.
EVER.
I wonder if you really get that!
You call this guy in Colorado a nut job? YOU call him a nut job? YOU who, faced with such a disaster, argue about the size of friggin' bullets? Yeah. You sure teach the rest of the world about being civilised.

Sorry, I am not up to speed as to your country? Would you be willing to let me in on that?

to be fair, it is not uncommon for young couples to take the infant with them to the movie....Infant falls asleep and the young mom and dad watch the movie without having to pay a sitter $10 to $15 an hour to watch the child.

Fine. How do you effectively ensure everyone is as responsible as you? Because until you can do that, it doesn't matter how responsible you are. Do you now understand why your belabouring of that point is useless to the discussion?

it worked with automobiles....that's why we no longer have car accidents....

Its no secret. I am a Brit ex-pat living in Hong Kong and enjoying most of it.

Hong Kong is not part of Japan, it is an autonomous region of China, which in general, is not very nice to its own people but allows us to continue as we did under British rule. If they decide to stop being nice to us we will go home.

Saint Ronney dumped the mental patients onto the sidewalks to save money...

I was around when that conversation was held....and the loudest voices came from the left, complaining about the people being "institutionalized" instead of being given their freedom of choice.....

Interesting, I know you said under British rule, does that mean their law as well, or are you under Japanese law?

I am truly sorry, but I can hardly type for laughing. Tokyo, Japan is about 1700 miles away. We have nothing whatsoever to do with Japan. Most Chinese people hate them with a passion. There was a time during WWII when the Japs invaded and that was the only time the Japanese had any influence at all.
Our law is based upon British law and will be for at least another 35 years. Our barristers are mostly educated in the UK.

I find Google Earth to be a tremendous help when I am trying to understand distances and communities. Type in Hong Kong and spend time virtually exploring the city. There are thousands of wonderful photos and if you go down into street view you may be intrigued by some of the things you see.

I don't know what you are laughing at...It was an honest question...

Ok, but as far as I can see there is still gun crime there no?
