The vast majority of gun owners in this country are law-abiding citizens

have you read posts from darla, bijou, topspin etc....? granted, they are in the vast minority, but there are people (especially on this board) who advocate that as a solution.

i agree with the above mott. btw....derp is silly, you can change back now. :)
Yea, Derp Derp has kinda run it's course though I'm keeping the I Derp Ohio avatar! :)

so we should not have the freedom to defend our lives?

Oh, please. When's the last time your neighborhood was under siege?

This idea that we all need guns to defend ourselves (from what exactly?) has become an ingrained part of our culture and is propped up by the phony notion that we all need to exercise our 'rights' by owning guns. That's just a thumbnail sketch of the problem. We've allowed the NRA and gun nuts dictate to the entire country how important this 'freedom' is. Well, fine - then get used to the idea that with this 'freedom' comes nuts like James Holmes, exercising his 'right' to own guns, and doing with said guns what guns were designed to do: kill people. Quit acting shocked and hurt over it. This is what comes with what you want so stop sniveling.

actually bijou....the founders dictated how important the freedom of gun ownership is. in fact...in case you don't know....they made it the second amendment.

all the NRA does...is remind people of the founders intent and scotus is also finally making more solid rulings upholding the founders intent.

why do you hate the constitution, founders and scotus?

I am used to it. the framers of the constitution knew these things were possible and so am I. I'm quite comfortable in the company I keep named Madison, Paine, Mason, and Jefferson.

and if you'd like to test your theory, go live in DC or chicago for a year. let me know what you think then.

Bitchen. Then we won't hear any whining from you about the incident in Colorado? Good.

no whining. I look forward to the murdering bastards trial though, but that doesn't change my view on the right to bear arms.

He was just another gun nut exercising his 'rights'. What do think gun nuts want to do with their guns, genius? Stare at them in a locked, glass case?

that would be the courts. they ignore we the people in favor of their legalese and wordspeak.

it was an attempt at humor. :(

though i disagree that, by and large, courts ignore "we the people". the judicial branch is a unique branch of government in the world. other countries have judicial systems, but none as robust and solid as the US's judicial branch. you will probably disagree, but, imo, the judicial branch isn't about upholding what the masses want or "we the people"....rather, the judicial branch is about upholding the US constitution and local laws that have already been decided by "we the people". that is why a judicial decision can be overturned, if you will, by constitutional amendments.

i know. i laughed on the inside, if that helps :)

you would think that, but once the supreme court decided that anything coming from congress is presumed to be constitutional, they turned the courts against the american people and towards totalitarianism.

bijou? what is not intelligent about his reply, so that i can help you understand it?

Of course not. Do you realize how stupid - and desperate - you sound comparing trained law enforcement officers to whackos like James Holmes?
then what is it? are ALL gun owners exercising their right to kill? or just non government gun owners? are ALL gun owners as insane as james holmes? or only the non government ones?

=SmarterthanYou;1041343]i know. i laughed on the inside, if that helps :)

it helps, because i know you get my dry humor.

there is still the possibility of a US constitutional amendment. that is the power of we the people. i don't believe any other nation on this planet has that power.
