I believe that a minimum wage precipitates a race to the bottom, rather than a true free market where the wage for a particular job is stagnant due to employers not having to compete for the best and brightest through significant wage consideration, but rather setting their wage at what is mandated through governmental over reach.
I don't think
Prove it! Fucking prove it or shut the fuck up.
No one give a fuck what you think, why don't understand that?
For the last time, do you have any proof at all or not?
Proof? Of what his opinion is? Since when do we have to prove opinions? We either have them, or we don't... the fact that he expressed his opinion, proves he has it! MORON!
No one give a fuck what you think, why don't understand that?
Read further back in the thread Dicksuck.
This illustrates the whole problem with Liberals. You firmly think that what you and your liberal cohorts think, is the only thing that matters, and no one cares what anyone else thinks. You believe you possess an altruistic ideology, and anyone who opposes it, is just quite simply wrong. This sort of fanatical extremism, causes you to become unreasonable and lash out with stupidity such as this, and be completely oblivious to what a jackass you are making of yourself.
I read the quote you posted with your reply, Runetard!
I asked the question from a discussion perspective. I mean $10, $15 or $20 an hour would really boost a workers spending potential. The question doesn't have to do with being liberal or conservative and isn't a gotcha question. It was simply a question for discussion.
Cuba has excellent healthcare and education. Why? Because those are the things government is good at, and the market sucks at.
Man libs really buy the propaganda hook, line, and sinker....One of the greatest fallacies about the so called 'Cuban Revolution' has to do with healthcare.
Foreigners who visit Cuba, are fed the official line from Castro's propaganda machine: "All Cubans are now able to receive excellent healthcare, which is also free." But the truth is very different. Castro has built excellent health facilities for the use of foreigners, who pay with hard currency for those services.
Argentinean soccer star Maradona, for example, has traveled several times to Cuba to receive treatment to combat his drug addiction. But Cubans are not even allowed to visit those facilities. Cubans who require medical attention must go to other hospitals, that lack the most minimum requirements needed to take care of their patients.
In addition, most of these facilities are filthy and patients have to bring their own towels, bed sheets, pillows, or they would have to lay down on dirty bare mattresses stained with blood and other body fluids.

As for the other, oft-touted successes of the regime, these tend to deteriorate under inspection. Take education. Yes, the country made huge gains during the first two or three decades of communist rule. But it started from a relatively high Latin American standard, and has barely treaded water ever since, producing tens of thousands of graduates in "historical materialism" and "culturology." Lacking most modern tools such as computers, Web access and current textbooks and a connection with the real economy, Cuba's supposedly excellent education system would probably compare much less well to those of other Latin American countries in a survey that didn't depend on the government's own statistics. Cuba would probably turn out to suffer the same ills as the rest of the region: formal universal education up to junior high or high school, but terribly mediocre quality and a total disconnect from the country's needs.

Now that sounds just state of the art doesn't it?Oh and here are some wonderful pics of the free facility in Havana....

Wow, looks so good I think that when I need Health Care, will I go to Johns Hopkins?, Mayo Clinic? Nah, I head south to Havana....Not.
On to education...That too is a big lie in Castro's Cuba....But don't takee my word for it...Let's go to the Daily Beast, certainly no "right wing site"....
Communism, or top down governmental control of people never works.
If you split the US into a bunch of Denmark sized chunks, would those chunks suddenly be more capable of supporting a welfare system? Would anything change at all, in a realistic sense? What if we didn't even split into different nations, we just administered the welfare state in chunks? Obviously, however, such an arbitrary system would simply increase costs, if anything, compared to allowing the administration to freely decide which routes are most efficient for the delivery of the welfare. That's why, if you'll notice, corporations don't don't split into Denmark sized chunks when, according to your idiotic theory, that would be the most efficient way of delivering the goods.
Since no americans have legally travelled to Cuba in over 50 years, your credibility is questionable at best. Nice try though, you are starting to get the hang of it.
No Americans? While I agree that Michael Moore is NOT an American, in the sense that he hates his own country, what you say here is simply NOT true, it is a bold faced lie.
Thousands of Americans travel to Cuba each and every year.

MaRuned: Since no americans have legally travelled to Cuba in over 50 years...
OOPS....
MaRuned: To be clear, it is still illegal for ordinary American vacationers to hop on a plane bound for Cuba...
Get used to that here... did you notice how he quickly abandoned the 'wonderful Cuban Health Care' point, and shifted to foreign policy?
Hoist with his own petard!
It wasn't I who made the declarative statement about Cuba's healthcare, moron.
