Number of PA Voters without ID Exceeds Obama's Margin of Victor Over McCain

This is quite troubling:

More than 758,000 registered voters in Pennsylvania do not have photo identification cards from the state Transportation Department, putting their voting rights at risk in the November election, according to data released Tuesday by state election officials.

The figures - representing 9.2 percent of the state's 8.2 million voters - are significantly higher than prior estimates by the Corbett administration. Secretary of the Commonwealth Carol Aichele has repeatedly said that 99 percent of Pennsylvania's voters already had the photo ID they will need at the polls in November.

Obama beat McCain by about 600,000 votes, and that was the largest margin of victory for a candidate in PA since 1984.

I guess that asshole who said that Voter ID would deliver PA to Romney was a well-informed asshole.

How retarded do residents of PA have to be to not have a photo ID? How do they even survive in the world of 2012? I pretty much can't do anything out here in WA if I don't have a registered photo ID from the DOL.

Yes, I am sure the very poor do little that you would enjoy. Why let them vote?

A lot less retarded than our idiot governor and RW pols such as Turzai who openly stated that voter ID will get Romney elected.

" ...Voter ID, which is gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania, done.” The statement drew a loud round of applause from the audience. It also struck a nerve among critics, who called it an admission that they passed the bill to make it harder for Democrats to vote — and not to prevent voter fraud as the legislators claimed.

Fortunately the ACLU filed a lawsuit to overturn the stupid thing. http://www.aclupa.org/legal/legaldocket/applewhiteetalvcommonwealt/index.htm

I do not understand how that many people survive either without a photo ID.

When I said, anything, I mean ANYTHING!! I'm not talking about presenting my military ID to get onto an installation or receive some discount. I mean, I can't get into establishments, apply for a job, my friend just got carded at the movie theatre (LOL), receive government assistance of any kind, vote (duh), enter into any sort of contract such as renting an apartment.

Without a valid ID, the only thing I am allowed to do is curl up and die. Or, apparently, live in PA. Nice set of options there!!

Yes, I am sure living poor in Pa sucks.

You can't even legally buy a pack of cigarettes in CO without an ID, and IDs are offered to the "very poor" for free (with assistance).

They were showing images of a recount election in Mexico on the news. They have an image of the person who registered in the signature book... They require ID and they match it to the photo in the book.

1. Only if you look less than a certain age.
2. Not everybody smokes.
3. Sounds as if poor voters are less likely to be disenfranchised out your way.
4. If anyone suggests giving IDs to the very poor for free, no liberal will object.

Now you hold up Mexico for democratic ideals?

Talk about a nanny govt, don't even think a clerk is smart enough to determine if a person is clearly over 18 or 21 whatever the age is.

Must be a republican led law.
They know their constituents :D
