SCOTUS deals biggest blow to Liberalism in 100 years!

yeah they can't use the commerce clause for whatever the fuck they want. they'll just use tax law for whatever the fuck they want.

And I think the court appropriately ruled Congress should have the ability to do.

That's FINE! Obamacare would have NEVER passed, had it been presented as this huge unacceptable tax increase on everyone! It won't survive as such, either. The ONLY way they managed to get this monstrosity passed in Congress, was to HIDE behind the commerce clause, and steal money from Medicare to make it appear they weren't spending money to do it. The SCOTUS just put an abrupt END to that, forever! From this day forward, things like Obamacare, will have to stand on the merit of being a new tax, and will have to be paid for accordingly. This is a tremendous victory for constitutional constructionists.

Yes, Virginia - it IS possible to spin anything.

Dix, someone just ran into my car (true story); can you tell me how this was a win for me today? I need to be comforted.

Also have him call Jan Brewer and tell her how she won big in Arazona reciently.

I am mindblown at this orwellian statement.

"You have a choice to pay the tax! If you don't want to pay the tax, then take that money and pay for health insurance!"

If you choose to fail to abide by the law of the land, obviously you're going to have to pay the price. Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

No spin here, Onzies. What are you interpreting as spin?

I would have LOVED for Roberts to have dealt a death blow to Obamacare and the centerpiece of Liberalism for the past 30 years, it would have totally made my day! But it's not the end of the world that he didn't, in fact, it is kind of a victory for people who believe the Federal government is usurping authority under the commerce clause, that it simply doesn't have, according to the constitution. The ruling found that Obamacare can't stand under the commerce clause, but it can stand under the Feds authority to tax. Obamacare is DOOMED as a tax, you should know that.

For the FIRST time since its inception, we have a firm and solid court ruling on the limits and bounds of the commerce clause. This fundamentally changes SO many liberal arguments on policy. This changes how Congress can implement new legislation or expand the Feds power and control over states. As I told the other punch dummy... it basically strikes down the liberal interpretation of the commerce clause, and re-affirms the conservative's interpretation. This will have a much more profound political effect than anything the court has done in recent years. It essentially ENDS Liberal Keynesian philosophy of ever-expanding government.

You can take the insurance money and go buy a lot of alcohol and hookers... your very own secret service day!

There just blowing smoke. It's empty rhetoric. Republicans would need complete control of our government to repeal it. They would need to have control of the White house, the house of reps and 60 seats in the senate. I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Without Republican approval of the money for the subsidies, it's going to wind up being a game of political chicken to see who voters will blame for mandates being applied to people who can't receive the subsidies that make them affordable.

The Democrats are really going to have to win the house and retain the senate and presidency for this to work without a hitch. The Republicans are going to have to win 60 seats in the senate, retain the house, and win the presidency to repeal it without a hitch. Otherwise, this is going to be a game of chicken.
