Egyptian Democracy!

What they should continue to teach us, is how right we were to take swift and overwhelming action in Japan. It's what works!

I hate war too! That's why I think we need to AVOID wars! There is no need for them in this day and age, it's barbaric. We should just send over the B-2s armed with a couple of tactical nukes, and illustrate what we are capable of. Then, I bet they would be willing to sit down and have an adult conversation about where we are heading and what we're doing. And no... I have no problem whatsoever in 'forcing' them to adopt a US-style constitutional republic form of government, where the people have the freedom to govern themselves. I make NO apologies for that.

You cannot hate war when you're talking about using nukes. The US does not have the authority to dominate the world, nor does it have the ability to do so. Why would you even want that?

We got our asses kicked out of the tiny nation of Vietnam, kicked out of the small nation of Iraq, and are about to get our asses kicked out of the stone-age nation of Afghanistan .. and you think threatening nations with nuclear attack is the answer.

Respectfully, that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to me.

Do you really think that the Russians would not have something to say about that, you crazy bastard??

Oh we got nukes for the Ruskies too Tom don't worry! We can nuke everyone! I think about 100 times over? That's what you get when you deprive your citizens of the basic health care sane nations have. Plenty of money for nukes. Plenty. And we sure do like to watch that shit on tv, so don't get us started nuking! If it happens sweeps week we may never stop!

WE got our asses kicked the fuk out of Vietnam. How in the Hell do you challenge that?

Here's a reminder ..

It's called our Saigon Moment .. and guess what? Almost 60,000 Americans died in that useless war .. that we lost.

We got our asses kicked out of Iraq .. and the Iraqis set the terms and the date for our Baghdad Moment .. which Obama followed to the letter .. then got credit for "ending" the war. :0) .. and the spoils went to the Chinese .. and the biggest winner of our idiotic misadventure was IRAN.

Peekaboo .. don't look now .. but we are losing the war in the stone-age nation of Afghanistan. Been there longer than any American war .. and we're losing.

The Vietnamese used make-shift weapons made out of sugar-cane .. the Iraqis used IED's .. and I think the Afghanis are using muskets. :0) Yet we lose.

Too many John Wayne movies brother. :0)

I agree with that.....its a very sad development.....welfare spending is up 41% since Jan. 2009

Welfare spending is not the problem my wise friend. The welfare of your fellow citizens is something we should all be concerned about .. especially the families of the soldiers that put more on the line for this nation than any of us. They should get whatever assistance they require to be whole.

The problem is that your government is owned by corporations and war-profiteers. Resources SHOULD go inward, not outward.

Exactly! Which is why we need to stop fighting mostly politically-driven wars of ideology, using antiquated 'war' tactics. I have no problem with modern technology and the ability to control the power and force of nuclear weapons, and no problem demonstrating that in the name of freedom. I would amend my previous comments on policy to perhaps include a first round of B-52s filled with MOABs, because they kill fewer people and have a stronger psychological effect on the survivors. But if that doesn't work... make them a nice glass fishbowl from the sands of one of their shrines, and let them see the reign of horror we can unleash from above, and never engage in 'war' on their terms. I have no problem with that, these people are religiously-radicalized, and they only understand brutal overwhelming force. Anything less, is perceived as weakness. The sooner you realize that, the better off you will be.

Uhhh we haven't built nukes for years. And strictly speaking, they're cheap compared to other options.

Then you must be very very happy that our vets. are getting the food stamp help they need......I guess I mis-understood your concern...
Maybe we can erect some good soup kitchens with next tables so they can bring their wives and children.....

Do you really think that the Russians would not have something to say about that, you crazy bastard??

No, I really don't think they would, nor the Chinese, for that matter. Stability in the middle east is crucial to them, just as it is to us. Elimination of this radical jihadist Islamic element, would benefit us all, the way I see it. In fact, we should continue to encourage Russia and China to adopt representative democratic constitutional republic ways of governing, because it is the best way to ensure true freedom for all mankind.

I don't feel the need to prove anything to you brother. No need for bad feelings.

No bad feelings.

Venezuela is better off because Chavez put in place policies to improve the human condition of his people. I defy you to challenge that .. or not. :0) THAT is the bottom line of my argument. They are better off not becuase the price of oil went up .. but because Chavez decided to spend that money on his ppeople, not divert it to the already rich as we do.

As I have stated multiple times. Venezuela is vastly dependent on oil/commodities as a revenue source. Chavez had the money that his predecessors didn't because oil prices went from about $10brl up to the current $80brl. Add in the devaluation of their currency and the inflation rate over 30% (which crushes the poor), the food shortages etc... some aspects may be better, but it is more to do with oil prices than with Chavez's policies.

Don't look now, but capitalism is failing all over the world.

Odd, because it looks more like Government debt being the problem and irresponsible politicians promising the world to their constituents so that they can remain in power. That is why they continue to push the problems into the future. To call the government's insanity 'capitalism' is a bit of a stretch. Though I do take your point and agree that the problems with Wall St and their ilk do need to be addressed. There is no perfect system, which I think you would agree, where we differ is on which is the greater good for the people.

You obviously believe that to be socialism. I disagree. When the poor of Venezuela have the standard of living of our poor, then perhaps we can compare the two.

Yes, this is my country and I am already aware that our government is owned and operated by corporations. It appears that you do not.

I don't disagree that there is too much special interest influence in DC. But when we look at our government compared to that of Venezuela, we are far better off. Chavez is pushing towards dictatorship. He silences opponents in a way that would never happen here.

We were told going in that we could not win in Vietnam, but our egos wouldn't let us listen.

The chinese tried for centuries to subdue Vietnam. The french were there for decades before we were. The vietnamese were simply facing a new enemy. They were willing to fight us for 3 or 4 generations and knew were weren't willing.

As BAC said, we lost 60k people for no reason.

Yes, we got our ass kicked.

Are people just used to Dixie being this insane?

I'm kind of amazed that his comments aren't getting a bit more play, but it could just be Dixie fatigue....

Vietnam, I agree, to a degree..... war was lost on the streets of LA, Frisco, NY city and everywhere the protesters gathered.....and in Washington DC by inept leaders....fools (lefties)that should not have gotten us into the conflict in the first place if they didn't have the balls to win by leaving the country in the same shape we left Berlin and Dresden...ruins.

Iraq war was won in 3 weeks and though we suffered many deaths by terrorists during the occupation, we left that country on our own terms....Obamas terms....

And the future is still the future.....we shall see what happens when it happens in Afghanistan, etc.....

I imagine we'll tire of the whole thing and leave the barbarians to kill each other and regroup to attack the US again in the future.....considering our leadership as it is...

We are not there as occupiers but by agreement with the government and will leave when they demand we leave......you can call it 'kicked out' if you must.

Uhhh we haven't built nukes for years. And strictly speaking, they're cheap compared to other options.

It all depends on your definition of "nukes" I suppose.

We use nuclear technology in a variety of bombs currently available to our military. We are also light-years ahead of everyone on EMP technology, which is even more devastating than nukes, in my opinion. It doesn't kill or pollute the environment, or destroy buildings, but it renders anything dependent on electronics inoperable. Think about that a moment, airplanes can't fly, tanks won't start, computers can't launch missiles... it essentially freezes all capability to do anything more than catapulting stones. We do have this capability, I have this from a reliable source who has been in Special Ops, working with it himself.

The point I am making is, we have somehow become mired in this idea that we have to wage war benevolently and humanely. That somehow, it is more ethical and moral for us to do so. I think, if it's something we stand on our convictions about, we should use whatever force we need to prevail, and do so in the shortest time possible. I don't feel the need to defend establishing freedom, I think it is our manifest destiny to do so. I know that will rub some the wrong way, and that's fine. It's obvious not everyone thinks like me and Doug MacArthur, that's why we are in such a fucked up mess now!

Yes, we got our ass kicked.

I was on the roof of the Reunification Palace last year in Saigon, there is a Huey helicopter that been there for many years. The palace has been left exactly like it was when it was captured by the Vietcong in 1975.

I respect your opinions brother .. and I can see where you're coming from. The problem with your theory is that we do not have the power nor the resources to dominate planet earth. We are not nearly as powerful as you think.

You suggest that we intimidate the world with nuclear destruction.

That comes from a position of weakness, not strength .. and it completely ignores the danger you put this nation and Americans all over the world in. You seem to believe that only we have the right to use nukes .. or that only we have them.

Russia stands in the way of what the US wants to do in Syria. Do you threaten to nuke Russia?

The Iranians decide to choose their own nuclear course .. because people like you want to nuke them. Do you then prove them right and nuke them?

What is the fallout from such action?

Are you of the opinion that the world will lay down to our demands? Do you think there will be no economic impact to this nation .. which is already teetering on the brink of economic disaster?

What you suggest is disaster.

Contrast your disastrous course with that of China .. which is conquering the world through soft power .. intelligent power.

China hasn't fired a shot .. lost no soldiers, no resources to idiotic misadventures like Iraq .. but walked away with the oil contracts .. and are walking away with the mineral conttracts in Afghanistan .. and have made great gains in Pakistan and thoughout Africa and Latin American .. and they threaten NO ONE.

But then again, China doesn't have cowboys.
