The latest rumor mill is that Romney is vetting Paul Ryan. Though not nearly as stupid a pick as Palin I can't believe Romney would pick Ryan.

Why not? It would give Ryan a chance to present his budget plan to the American people, without first passing through the Democratic media machine. Then, Americans, being the reasonable people that they are, would realize that it does not "push grandma over a cliff."
I personally feel Portman would be a better choice, but I'd be content with Ryan.
