wow. that is simply disgusting. you don't need urine to test for marijuana. this is a complete invasion of privacy, against rape laws and the qualified immunity is bullshit. i understand the reason behind the immunity, but it is applied hazardously and essentially gives most officers cart blanche to do as they please.

how are they getting away with this, cannot the victim appeal to higher courts

the concept of qualified immunity begins and ends with the courts. Unless there's some incident that is completely shocking to the senses, it will continue to be applied becase the courts will not establish a clear and definite guideline of the law. Until such time, police brutality and other horrifying episodes like this will go unpunished.

Many people in the UK think that US police act like a modern version of the Gestapo, although no doubt exaggerated there does seem to be more than a little substance in the belief.
