Defense Of Marriage Act Ruled Unconstitutional By Second Federal Judge

You are welcome to maintain your identity. But trying to make this a Christian nation is not an option.
There is no "try" in what "is". Just because some Godless asshole in the Oval Office said we aren't, doesn't mean a thing. We are a Christian nation. Why are you fighting this? As a Christian, you should know the difference.

Granule has a very "Borg-like" view of what it means to be an "American."

Just a shout-out for all of the Trekkies in the audience...
Yeah, I debated using "assimilate", because I knew a tool like Onceler would chime in. I decided to use it anyways, because it's relevant.

I guess Thomas Jefferson was a "Godless asshole in the President's suit"? No, we are not a Christian nation. Christianity has been the dominant religion for so long that equality became a forgotten concept.

As a Christian, I do not require that others follow my faith. I am happy to help them see my way, and I try to live my life as an example. But I see the difference between my faith and the running of my country.

Is that a biblical term?

Well, it has meaning.

Your words about what kind of nation we are & what it means to be American are chilling. Sooooooo glad that you are a tiny minority, and don't represent the views of any group of significance.

Not at the expense of our identity. We are a Christian nation, first. Respect comes after immigrants have assimilated into our society.

As I stated before, if you want a secular society, move to Europe. We're a Christian nation.

Its funny, you want to maintain your identity, but demand everyone else toss theirs out?

No, I live in a secular society. The barriers that were wrongfully erected are coming down one by one. That is why schools are secular. That is why the 10 Commandments monument was removed from the Alabama Supreme courthouse lobby and Roy Moore was removed from the bench.

There are countries that have a national religion. The United States does not. It was the first thing our founding fathers added to the US Constitution.

Heel, Zappa!

Let's get started, shall we?

WOW....Condescending right off the bat...that tells me right away you are worried about the weakness of our argument.

Sanctity: holiness of life and character: GODLINESS
2a : the quality or state of being holy or sacred
According to Merriam Webster’s Online Dictionary, the word “Sanctity” comes from God.

It says nothing of the sort.

according to MW.com:

Origin of SANCTITY
Middle English saunctite, from Anglo-French sainteté, from Latin sanctitat-, sanctitas, from sanctus sacred
First Known Use: 14th century

are you going to claim God waited until the 14th century to give us the word "sanctity"? so marriage wasn't sanctified until the 14th century?

In the Holy Bible, God has given His directive on marriage in the following two scriptures:

Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.
Matthew 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
The current U.S. Marriage Law is in harmony with Genesis 2:24. To deviate from Genesis 2:24 is to deviate from the will of God.

Well then, 50+% of all marriages "deviate from the will of God"

Gay Rights activists are deviating from the will of God, in that they wish to see people of the same sex becoming “One flesh” or “Married”. Because of this, gay activists are also deviating from Matthew 19:6, as they seek to “put asunder” what God hath joined together. In some cases this may be unintentional, as many gays & lesbians insist this is harmless; that the feelings they share for each other are in fact true love. But a closer examination of this reveals that there is more to their “true love” than just sharing reciprocal feelings.

You mean it's your OPINION that gay rights activists are deviating from the will of God...sounds like another Christian wants to sit in judgement of others...

But stnce you appear to on a roll, by all means enlighten us as to this devious plot contrived by loving gay and lesbian couples to put asunder what God hath joined and how the current 50+% divorce rate is just a part of their plot.

Explain, PRECISELY, what you mean by "more to their true love" than just reciprocal feelings...I'm sure someone as narrow minded as yourself will have an entertaining "definition" ready.

Tremendous pressure is being placed on virtually anyone who supports the will of God. If one does not conform to the wishes of these activists, then consequences will follow; usually in the form of abusive verbal treatment, or even worse. Sometimes this can create dissention among followers of God, as some believers become riddled with guilt and begin to doubt their convictions. At times, this “guilt” factor also makes its way into heterosexual marriages, as this can help cause a divide between “What God hath joined together”.

Oh no..."verbal abusive treatment" is what you're worried about?

So when our parents taught us that sticks and stones may break my bones BUT NAMES WILL NEVER HURT ME...they meant everyone but guilty homophobic Christians?

You're going to have to do better than whining about someone calling you some names...

Liberalism is chiefly about giving and receiving guilt. Gay activism happens to fall right in line with this mindset. Throw that on an already massive fire of induced shame, and it doesn’t leave much incentive for the rest of us to continue putting up with your idea of compromise.

More nonsensical OPINION.

biblical quotes and your own personal opinion don't count...

Come back with some hard, quantifiable evidence, that gay marriage destroys the sanctity of marriage.

Until then your opinion is all you've got, and that just isn't enough to justify your feelings.

Still waiting on a response from our "expert" on all things Christian.

I can't wait to read his justification for the double standard he has...

Saudi Arabia has a national religion. The Taliban had a national religion in Afghanistan. Iran has a national religion. I think ou get my drift. Granule wants to be part of the Christian Taliban. Maybe, he wants morality police like these nations I have mentioned?

It's not for you to debate. You're an Xtian as far as anyone who uses the abbreviation is concerned. Deal with it.

And here's further proof that those who believe in nothing, find it necessary to try and denigrate the beliefs of others.

Maybe this (o) should be the abbreviation of those who choose not to believe, since they try so hard to make themselves look like assholes.

Who gives a shit? As if the use of an 'asshole' symbol would be any more offensive than the sanctimony Xtians demonstrate and their pursuit to shove their beliefs down everyone's throat.

Still spewing, I see, (o).
I'm sorry that the beliefs of others scare you so much.
It might mean that you're questioning your own (o)ness and getting worried.

You can believe whatever nonsense you choose, Xtian. And I will continue to choose the path of critical thinking.

It might mean something that my atheism makes you so uncomfortable. Possibly, a sign of doubt and weak faith on your part.

So only atheists are capable of critical thought?

You being an (o) doesn't make me uncomfortable; because you don't dictate my faith.
I look at it this way.
I choose to believe and if I'm wrong, then all I did was waste part of my time.
BUT
If I'm right, then you're wasted for all time.

Free will comes with consequences and responsibility.
The two very things that (o)s run from.
