Germany and Greece and the Game of “Chicken”

Greece does need to ditch the Euro. It's best for both sides, and if it is the Greek lefties who get them out, well, that's rather impressive to a rightie like me.

Those motherfuckers at Goldman Sachs, that helped Greece to cook the books to get into the Euro, should be prosecuted and slowly roasted over an open fire!

Plus it is already figured into the markets, everybody pretty much expects it to happen.

If by this comment you mean that it won't be that big a deal and won't have much of an impact, you are quite wrong.

The one that I fear is Spain. If they drop out of the Euro it will have serious repercussions on our market. However, much of Greece, including an expectation of default, has already been figured into our markets. While there will be a negative reaction, it won't be nearly as bad as it will be if some of the other nations in crisis fall to the wayside.

Well, the holders of Greek debt, which again are banks in Germany and other parts of rich Europe, will have significant losses. And if Greece walks, then the other countries have the threat of walking, too. While people may expect default, that doesn't mean that Greece leaving the Euro and defaulting won't have a big impact.

If that were to happen, though, I'm guessing that the ECB will just give the banks more free money. That seems to be the way things work nowadays.

(Excerpt)The Greek politicians – at least the lefties throwing curveballs – think there’s no way the Germans will let them exit the currency zone, and of course don’t want them to exit the European Union. They are saying to the population, elect us, we’ll spit on their boots and they’ll bend over to shine them themselves.(End)

Maybe times have changed but conventional wisdom was to always remain in the upright position when in Greek company.
