The real "war on women"

It's a comedy act.

You're really grasping.

So near as I can tell, Rush Limbaugh is just an "entertainer" but Bill Maher is the host of a political opinion show and is not a comedian, notwithstanding that Bill Maher earns his living as a comedian and Rush Limbaugh earns his living as the host of a political opinion show.

Who the hell watches Bill Maher anyway? I can say that I haven't watched more than three minutes of his program in total throughout my entire life.

Rush is political commentary, like Hannity, like Maher, like everybody who does political commentary. While they try to make it entertaining using "shock" methods, etc. it is still political commentary.

Maher makes his bones on his political show. Not as a comedian.

Stop saying "makes his bones." I don't even know what that means in this context.

It isn't. Unless you think say The View is a comedy act.

He gathers people in to speak on political views, not to do standup. Seriously, his show is not Saturday Night Live. It isn't even John Stewart who does a political comedy act. It is literally political commentary. That he says the occasional curse word doesn't suddenly make it comedy.

I think The View is pretty comedic. It is a variety show, I don't watch it and insure wouldn't watch it for my political analysis.

Oh, it's just so awful. The persecution of all of those poor rightie comedians, and the lefties get off scot free.

Thus it has been, and thus it always shall be. The travesty.

There aren't any rightie comedians. Righties aren't funny, only unintentionally so.

Does anyone else know what the hell Damo means here? I sure as hell don't.

Let's say I do a political commentary show on HBO as my major source of income, but people call me a comedian. They would be misdefining what I do. Of course, these people wouldn't do that because I would have more conservative leans. They would call me "leader of the republican party" or something stupid when I wandered into the land of "shock"...

So do I. I never miss it.

I watch it once in a while, I usually miss it though because it's on Friday nights. I have HBO on Demand but I never bother to watch it through there for some reason. He's funny, but i don't like listening to conservatives and also, he doesn't always have his facts to dispute them with.

It's very interesting I've had a lot of discussion on whether he's a sexist. It seems most active feminists believe so.

He's sexist to the extent that most men are sexist. He's honest about it, though. Women are sexist, too. It's a fact of life. There are double standards because two standards, one for each gender, actually do exist. Sexism is not synonymous with misogyny, however. Maher's not a mysogynist.

I never even heard him say anything particularly sexist, though of course the Palin thing certainly qualifies.

See, I don't agree. What he said is no different than me calling Cheney a dick.

The only difference is that everyone knows that 'cunt' packs a wallop when uttered by men about a woman.

Double standard.

For the record, 'cunt' doesn't bother me in the least.

Lying, greed and racism are far more offensive than any four-letter word uttered about me or anyone else.
