seems that counterfeit electronic parts were sold to the us military - breaking news from cnn

this is the result of reductions in the military budget reductions and lowest bidder contracts

the parts have been traced to china...

Since a large part of our military can't operate without communist chinese parts, what better way for them to destroy us and have us pay for it.

Thank Obama for that.

Obama huh?

This is about official Chinese parts suppliers to the DOD providing substandard counterfeit parts.
The issue is not at all that the parts are Chinese :D

Sounds just like the problem we have with Obama....unvetted.

But the committee also pointed a finger at the Pentagon and U.S.-based defense contractors that rely on "hundreds of unvetted independent distributors."

the issue is that our military is using bogus parts and that the missions of units using those parts is compromised

additionally, why are we buying mission critical parts from china instead of from us suppliers

cost savings?!!

Oh god. The fear mongering.
A military weapon system is a total package. For example, a whole destroyer is considered a system. So based on the vagueness of this report, if Hampton Roads purchases some transistors for use in circut boards on the new GW carriers, some of those transistors may come from a Chinese supplier and may be refurbished instead of brand fucking new.

That's it. That's the story.

it is not that they are chinese, but that they were sold as new parts not refurbished and do not work as advertised - in otherwords, they do not meet specifications

From 1972 till 1977 I worked for an electronics firm that was a sub contractor for Motorola and we made parts for the US Nave.
Not everything that worked when it left our factory, worked when it got to the Navy ships either.
Electronics fail, get used to it.

We do not even make enough stuff to supply our military.

maybe if congress passed a law requiring the military to give us manufacturers first shot at supplying them we would - why is the us military sending jobs overseas
