Martin had the bad luck to cross paths with Zimmerman. It was raining. Martin's hoodie was up. He was on the phone with his girlfriend and, according to her, was getting nervous about the big guy following him.

The guy was Zimmerman.

Zimmerman considered Martin a suspicious character -- at least that's what he was telling the 911 dispatcher he had on the line. He also told the dispatcher that "these ... always get away," according to a recording of the call that has been released.

Then he took off running after Martin and uttered to the dispatcher a word that some listeners heard to be a racial epithet.

Martin, of course, was African American and, even though this gated neighborhood in Sanford, Fla., happened to be where his dad lived, in Zimmerman's eyes, he did not belong there.

Then came a confrontation, cries for help and a gunshot.

Just because this case is looking more and more like depravity on the part of a half-white Latino, there are white racists and bigots, here and there, willing to forgive him his Hispanic heritage, because the "bigger boogie man" would be 'black people", whom they falsely believe, commit the majority of crimes, even though there is no evidence, outside of statistics compiled by whites, with the express intent of painting black people with the broadest, blackest brush, to support that assertion. Some people hate black people that much.

You want to know why? Because Zimmerman didn't act at all like a Hispanic, but a racist white, and President Obama, himself, identifies as an African-American, which is right in accordance with the "one drop rule", that your people used for years to qualify persons with mixed heritage.

There aren't Hispanics who hate blacks? We can look at LA as one example where tension between the two communities is increasing as Hispanics are moving in large numbers into areas that were more recently dominated by blacks and there is unfortunately lots of killing between Hispanic and black gangs.

Really? You have to go all the way to East L.A. and bring up gangs to illustrate a "divide" between Hispanics and blacks?????????????????
We have more in common, and therefore, it serves our best interest to be a united front against white based racism and bigotry. How predictable. How ridiculous.
My handyman is Hispanic and I have several Hispanic neighbors....where's the tension?

I lived in LA for four years recently so it was something that written about in the local press so I didn't have to go far. And the tension is really in South-Central more than East LA but that is really neither here nor there. I am not suggesting all blacks and hispanics don't get along. That's ridiculous. I am saying that the idea that hispanics and blacks all get along is equally as ridiculous.
