The old Progressives were a mixed bag; Herbert Hoover was a Progressive, for instance. He handled the feeding of Europe after the end of WW I and did an excellent job handling the logistics of that. Re the World Wars Wilhelm, Hitler, and the Japs did themselves in, not 'Wall Street'; despite the myths, corporations and business people generally oppose wars, and don't promote them, they just adapt to the new political environment and milk it. It is also a fact that nobody will respect American neutrality if we didn't have a strong Navy and Air Force. Just ask Mr. Neutrality himself, Thomas Jefferson, who was the first Prez to learn that lesson the hard way and reacted to reality.

My grandmother grew up on a reservation; couldn't wait to flee it and never looked back; left with 35 cents in her pocket at 4 a..m. in the morning of her 14th birthday to Tulsa and got a job at a hotel, got married at 16, moved to Texas, raised 6 kids.
