Just six months after getting married, reality star Amber Rose Howard, also known as her stage name Amy Luciani, filed for divorce from the former NBA star, according to documents obtained by TMZ Sports. In the filing, Amber wrote that the marriage is "irretrievably broken," adding, "there are no prospects for reconciliation." She’s asking the court to equitably divide all marital assets and property and is seeking alimony.

Equitable divide does not mean "half." It means fair. Both parties ask for an equitable divide, and then argue over what equitable means.

Basically, it is a place holder. Her lawyer does not want to say an exact amount of money, until discovery can figure out how much money there is, and when it gotten.

The Constitution allows people to petition the government with just about anything. She can ask for a trillion dollars, and the Constitution guarantees her that right.

She won't get much, no matter what her lawyers have been telling her; she might get a percentage of what he earned for the 6 months they were married, unless she trumps up 'abuse' charges and other lies and perjures herself. Hopefully the moron had sense enough to buy his houses and other stuff before he married her. They did have a pre-nuptial agreement, in any case. She's a convicted felon, so she probably felt right at home in the pro sport world, anyway. I can never work up any big sympathy for pro athletes and their trophy wife obsessions.

Georgia is not a community property state, so depending on the judges she could end up with nothing or a lot. My guess is it won't bankrupt him and he will move on to the next one.

What makes you believe the law allows this, just because someone asked for it?

In Florida, each member of a marriage gets half of whatever was community property. If one member maintained separate money or belongings they get to keep what they held separate.

There is no alimony for a 6 month marriage in any state that I know of.
