They put out a few daily numbers, and then go dark. So today's number was 21,683, with 108 deaths. That case number is the largest since the pandemic started. And it continues to get worse. So do I trust DeSantis? Not as far as I can throw him. But what IS coming out points to a disaster.

Why do we care? What happened in New York happened early, and we learned from it. By 'we' I mean intelligent people. Apparently the Governor is not part of that group. Florida will not likely reach that death number because... wait for it.... VACCINES!. Almost the entire population 65 and older is vaccinated. The vast majority of Democrats are vaccinated. So none of those people will die. Just the unvaccinated. So that will keep the death toll down.

Their refusal needs to be met with draconian restrictions on their ability to participate in society. They have surrendered that privilege with their refusal to protect their fellow citizens.

What is the general tone of the business owners w/respect to masks?
 
This is so easy to comprehend.

1. Get the vaccine.

2. Follow the CDC guidelines.

Everybody be a good American, do those things, and the pandemic is under control.

This is basic logic.

We are all in this together. We need everyone to act in a unified way. That is the way out.

This is not the time for individualism. This is virology. We have to have a unified response.

Join us, please. We can get our lives back.

I think we'll see the mandates back in place in short order. Compliance is getting better but it isn't back to pre vaccine levels. The big problem is the bars and restaurants. They are packed. No masks. And Coronavirus is present in almost every single establishment. We know that about 1 in 100 people in my county have been diagnosed with Covid in the last week. Virus is everywhere.

Bars are a problem. Ours opened with strict mask guidelines along with some other silly nonsense. Cuomo's food mandate. Our home location for pool league kept PBJ sandwiches on the bar. In the early days of the pandemic, Cuomo wanted to protect restaurants or something.

When we hit 70% vaccination rate the restrictions ended. I don't believe we really hit that mark, but Cuomo's daughter was getting married.

We start up again in the league next week. I'm sure some on my team will be wearing masks along with me.



I don't concern myself with Covid numbers. I watch the hospitals. How are yours? My nurse GF says that they're starting to see Covid patients again. People are lying about being vaccinated when they are admitted.

Ours are filling fast. Thank goodness half the population is vaxxed and won't end up there. If this had happened to a 100% unvaxxed population it would have been way, way worse, and it's bad enough already.

Desantis did the same thing a year ago when the pandemic was raging. Texas too.
