Was Hiroshima an act of terrorism?

The truth isn't a lie. Hiroshima was a major military center with tens of thousands of Japanese soldiers awaiting deployment to resist our invasion, and was the military headquarters in charge of repelling that invasion.

Sure- and 18 million European minorities , including 6 million Jews- were weakening the Aryan genetic strain and supporting the allies financially and through terrorism, sabotage and subversion.

Different flags- same assholes.

Kokura Arsenal was a massive (4100 feet by 2000 feet) arms production complex.

See post #526, you contemptible liar.

The nuclear attacks were once obviously an act of terrorism. The entire point was to terrorize and coerce the Japanese into an immediate unconditional surrender.

So the morality of it is not even a debate. The question is if it was strategically necessary given the war aims of the allies.

We have to admit that ending the war rapidly, coercing an unconditional surrender, occupying Japan, and turning what had historically been an aggressor nation into essentially a pacifist nation can be seen ultimately as a huge success for Truman's legacy.

There have been unsubstantiated claims that Japan was on the verge of surrender. I do not buy it. Mere weeks before the attack on Hiroshima, the Japanese fought tenaciously to the death, to the last man on Okinawa. That does not sound to me like they were ready to just give it up and run up the white flag of surrender

Except, they weren't.

Hiroshima on the other hand actually was a huge military target.

So your rhetoric regarding Kokura Arsenal is just bullshit.

There were no nuclear attacks on Japan.

Good grief.

Trying to piggy back off what you read other people write?

I am not a trained particle physicist, but you obviously have never even set foot in a high school or college introductory physics class.

The Fat man bomb was based on the energy of nuclear fission - making it the first nuclear weapon ever used on humans.

Repeated lies never become truth, you mendacious establishment parrot.

For obvious reasons, you neglected to provide a link to Wikipedia

Here is what Wikipedia says

"The United States detonated two nuclear weapons over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9, 1945, respectively"

The facts are JAPAN ATTACKED US at Pearl Harbor...we were not in the war yet...
Japan gets what it deserves what it gets for starting a war with us..period

In war no country has any responsibility to tell the country they are at war with
what they can or cannot do or when they will do it..the narrative is a silly notion...
Did Japan tell us before they bombed Pearl Harbor...NO!

I can certainly feel sympathy for Japan, even though I agree with the bombings. One other notorious, frequently criticized bombing, that also turned 75 back in February, is Dresden. No sympathy for the krauts, from me. Never seen the 200k figure disputed before, btw.

The German civilians were aiding their war effort which was killing Americans.

There is no notoriety in stopping the killing of Americans, The bombings helped stop the war and the killing on both sides.

Yes, Japan was never informed that the US had a new weapon when the warned Japan of total destruction.
You are a fucking liar

Hiroshima leaflets (main text)

TO THE JAPANESE PEOPLE:

America asks that you take immediate heed of what we say on this leaflet.

We are in possession of the most destructive explosive ever devised by man. A single one of our newly developed atomic bombs is actually the equivalent in explosive power to what 2000 of our giant B-29s can carry on a single mission. This awful fact is one for you to ponder and we solemnly assure you it is grimly accurate.

We have just begun to use this weapon against your homeland. If you still have any doubt, make inquiry as to what happened to Hiroshima when just one atomic bomb fell on that city.

Before using this bomb to destroy every resource of the military by which they are prolonging this useless war, we ask that you now petition the Emperor to end the war. Our president has outlined for you the thirteen consequences of an honorable surrender. We urge that you accept these consequences and begin the work of building a new, better and peace-loving Japan.

You should take steps now to cease military resistance. Otherwise, we shall resolutely employ this bomb and all our other superior weapons to promptly and forcefully end the war.

Good link but those leaflets were dropped after Hiroshima. FWIW, I don't give a fuck if leaflets were dropped or not. No leaflets or other warning was given about Pearl Harbor, Bataan, Corregidor, Nanking, etc. The Japanese started that war and the US finished it. I'm good with it.
