guess who started that course? Obama and his idiotic sanctions on the "junta government"of el-Sisi
we became unreliable partners, and Sisi went shopping for weapons/parts in Moscow.
Yet another Obama foreign policy disaster - like the new civil war in Libya
So
And we do not attempt to establish influence in countries?
Simple task. You just crush the opposition with assassinations and jail.
That's democracy US-style.
I disagree. Plenty of countries operate this sort of 'democracy' - not just the US or Egypt.
Look at Russia, North Korea, Phillipines, Israel, Brazil.....all the countries that have fascist dictators just like the US has.
WTF are you yammering about? NOBODY IN CONGRESS wanted sanctions from EITHER PARTY -Idiotic sanctions?
It was not a foreign policy disaster. It was a foreign policy dilemma that had he not done something, you FUCKWAD Republicans would have said he was weak and didn't do anything. Because you FUCKWADS were so hellbent to try and destroy Obama, no matter what he did- regarding anything he ever did or didn't do, Obama was damned by you FUCKWADS if he did- or Damned by you FUCKWADS if he didn't. So STFU you Obama hating FUCKWAD!
So basically, Obama held off on a planned joint military exercise with Egypt until further notice, he held back the remaining Economic Aid (247 million) they had not received yet, and he held back on some fighter jets not yet delivered, and some
helicopter parts. These were basically temporary sanctions put in place until basic human rights were restored and the killing of citizens stopped and people were held accountable.
The US is not ever going to just sit back and do nothing when an allied country is overturned into a Coup-d'atat overnight and starts shooting their own innocent civilians in the street, or the capturing them and torturing them.
Not a sitting Republican or a Democrat president or Congress we've ever had before!
Well, maybe a Donald Trump careless idiot would fail to act- on such an atrocity.
Idiot Donald Trump has visions of sugarplums rolling in his head and a future Trump Tower being built alongside the Sphinx and the Pyramids, which may be the motivations behind his sucking of Sisi's dick here of late!
You FUCKWAD Republicans have lost all sense of decency, and moral US obligation with your incessant and over-the-top hatred towards Obama and your totally weird homosexual desires for Donald Trump!
Eat a dick dude!
And then read the truth here....https://fas.org/sgp/crs/mideast/R43183.pdf
WTF are you yammering about? NOBODY IN CONGRESS wanted sanctions from EITHER PARTY -
Leahy made some obligatory noises, but there was no real call for any sanctions..
For some stupid reason Obama decided on his own Sisi needed to be punished ( even though Sisi had made it clear he was anti-terrorist, and arrested and outlawed the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood)
- which bloomed under Morsi rule.
Sisi wanted weapons and he needed parts, so he engaged with Moscow INVITING RUSSIANS INTO EGYPT-
against 50 years of US policy of containing Russia from military ties to Egypt.
Obama's Egyptian sanctions were a disaster. Obama's war on Libya is an ongoing disaster.
Even his Syria moves of arming da rebels backfired.
Your post is an ignorant rant otherwise, and you have no understanding just how bad those sanctions were
Sisi wins snap Egyptian referendum amid vote-buying claims
Voters given food boxes to back constitutional changes that could extend Sisi rule to 2030
Supporters of President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi have claimed victory after almost 90% of Egyptian voters backed sweeping constitutional changes that could result in him ruling until 2030.
Election officials claimed 88.8% of voters had confirmed the changes, with a turnout of 44%. The results overhaul the 2014 constitution: they extend presidential term limits to six years, allowing Sisi to run for re-election in 2024; expand presidential control over the judiciary, and enshrine the military’s role in politics.
While officials from the national election commission (NEC) praised the democratic nature of the vote, the referendum was marred by a carrot-and-stick campaign to drive working-class voters heavily affected by austerity measures to the ballot box.

Egypt corruption: President el-Sisi denies wrongdoing

Chanting and tear gas in central Cairo
Security forces in Egypt have used tear gas to disperse demonstrators in Cairo, after hundreds of people gathered demanding the resignation of President Abdul Fattah Sisi.
The protests were some of the first since he took power in 2014, and came after a video alleging government corruption was posted online by businessman and actor Mohamed Ali.
President Sisi has dismissed the allegations as "lies and slander".
