Trump presses for help securing Strait of Hormuz as Iran threatens more retaliatory strikes

President Donald Trump is urging countries to help the US secure the Strait of Hormuz by sending warships to the Middle East. Iran has greatly hindered traffic in the vital waterway, sending ripple effects through the global economy. US gas prices have spiked by 23% .

Iran’s military has vowed to strike US-linked oil and gas infrastructure in the Middle East if more of its own energy sites are attacked. This follows a US operation targeting Kharg Island, a key Iranian export hub.

Even a casual student of history should understand pretty easily that when you start a war, you open up a Pandora's Box of negative possibilities. It is extremely rare that things go as planned or according to the most optimistic scenarios.

And I have little doubt that the conversations among Trump, Hegseth & the rest were almost exclusively the latter. Just 'this will be easy and quick.' No 'this could potentially happen' or 'this could go south.'

It's like the country is being run by children. How did they not learn the lessons of Iraq?

Trump assumed Iran would rapidly capitulate, and he ignored the warning from his top general that Iran would seek to cripple shipping through the strait.

President Trump called on a host of other countries, including Britain, France, and China, to send warships to the Strait of Hormuz to end a de facto Iranian blockade on the shipping of oil through the strategic waterway. It was far from clear, however, whether any countries would volunteer to patrol the strait, through which about a fifth of the world’s oil transits.

Starts a war, gets in over his head, demands help.

Sounds about right for tRump.

When other countries decline to get involved it will be Biden's fault for sure.

trump does not know much, and does not listen to others. he claims his blood means he does not need to take in information from the outside world.

Bullshit, you fucking lying assface. :rolleyes2:

Okay, maybe you're not lying, maybe you're just repeating lies you were told that you perceive as truth.
Do me a favor and click where they link their evidence of that claim in the article, and tell me if it's convincing enough to you
from a strictly Liberal objective standpoint.

Link to when that happened? :rolleyes2:
Donald Trump: “Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint, will send Ships to the area so that the Hormuz Strait will no longer be a threat by a Nation that has been totally decapitated."

"The Guardian" said? I'm not convinced.
They didn't provide a link, but I found it. It's real, thank you.
Truth Social blocks me.
