Wrong. Trump is being charged with documentation fraud--that is booking fraud--for some underlying never defined, charged, or convicted, felony that those bookkeeping entries were done to cover up. That's what the NY law on this is about.

The FEC looked into it and found Trump hadn't violated any federal campaign laws. In fact, an expert in federal campaign laws was to testify for the defense in Trump's case but the judge wouldn't allow it.
