Spain's 117 Degree Summertime as Climate Change Worsens

July 1757 heatwave

A very significant heat wave occurred in Europe in July 1757. The heat wave may have been the hottest summer in Continental Europe between the summers of 1540 and 2003.[1][2][3] July 1757 was the hottest month in the history of Paris with an average temperature of 25 °C (77 °F) (compared to 24.8 °C during the 2006 European heat wave), and it reached a high of 37.5 °C (99.5 °F) on 14 July. Similarly, over Central England, July 1757 was the hottest month on record since 1659, at the time, and would not be beaten until July 1783. It still the ninth-warmest on record in that series.[4][5]

You are a goddamn fucking idiot

Was Exxon around in 1757??

Fucking idiots have an everyday need to call others fucking idiots.

I lived in Spain a few decades ago and the temperature stayed above 100 degrees for weeks.

No global warming.

Get a clue, Marty.

It's almost like southwestern Europe has a HOT CLIMATE!!!!

Seville, Spain is closer to the Equator than Death Valley.

Bam. thread kill. good work

They see a story, in this case in WaPo, and can't wait to post it without doing any checking. Spain, especially the interior and the south, can be hot as Hell in the Summer. If you look at a map you can see why, the Sirocco winds come straight off the Sahara desert and are truly maddening.

Looks like Marty has done a moonlight flit!

The all time heat record in Spain is just one illustration of the argument. Your answer to it besides avoidance is a confusion of spikes with a trend. Your partner isn't smart enough to know better but you are.

Spikes with a trend, are you being serious?

Not sure that I care to be honest, you got caught with your pants down and have been furiously backpedalling ever since.

You either confuse back peddling with pointing out errors of others or are scrambling yourself. Showing us 400 years of record and near record high temperatures and seeing nothing to make of the fact that the great majority of them are from the last 40, and a majority of those from the last 20, is either ideological blindness or plain stupidity.
