Many scientists believe that we're too late.

The planet is beyond the tilting point where remaining livable for humans for much more time is no longer possible.

If that's the case, shouldn't we just stop procreating and let those of us already here just live for the present?

That would seem a hell of a lot less stressful, and let's be honest: humanity isn't going on an upward trajectory anyway.
I suspect that the planet and the fates alike have seen more than enough of us.

Importance is subjective to the individual, I suppose.

In absolute terms, how is anything important? The entire universe and all that occurs within it are merely the random confluence of sub-atomic particles as far as I can tell.

If the creation of matter was some deity's only accomplishment, it may not have been the best idea.

But we're here without having been asked, we're the one who have to put up with everything, so we perceive things to be important because they impact our comfort and convenience.

Artificial intelligence is the next stage of evolution. They will be more adaptable to the extreme environment.
 
At this point, the denial is comical.

They'll simply never open their eyes to what's happening. Hate to say it, but it's too late anyway.

And that's short term as well. The sun is going to burn out eventually and our miniscule corner of the universe will have no relevance at all.
What we need to care about is how comfortably and conveniently we get to live while we're here.

I honestly don't know if it's better to try to fix the environment or just live for the present, knowing we're near the end of the rope anyway.

Here is the silver lining. All the woman in Spain and those other countries are fucking hot. This just makes them dress more scantily. I can see why that would offend a Democrat male though.
