I know this puts the "My Pet Goat moment" into perspective. While Bush was criticized for sitting there 15 minutes doing nothing, Obama has still done nothing, and has his sycophants spinning like crazy to explain his fecklessness away. Imagine if, after Bush got the whisper in his ear, he stood up and said... I think we can make this book into a musical! And proceeded to dance and frolic with the kiddies for another 4 hours, before leaving to go do a fundraiser in Vegas? And then, for the next two weeks following 9/11, tried to claim the attack was in response to a video. And THEN... tried to claim he didn't have all the information!

You can bet your sweet ass, MORE information is yet to come out. There WILL be a Senate hearing on this, and we WILL get to the bottom of it all. Obama is already struggling in the polls, this isn't going to help him any, but even IF he manages to pull off a win now, his days are numbered and this will effectively end his political career. Put on a happy face, try to ignore the ramifications, keep lying and spinning away, it's not going to change the inevitable.

Um incorrect. He was referring to how Obama responded AFTER the attack. You know, you liberals made fun of the few minutes Bush sat there after the towers were hit... yet when hours go by after this attack and Obama does nothing to support the embassy personnel... not a peep.

ROFLMAO... are you even paying any attention to our foreign policy of late? Obama goes on the view rather than engage world leaders directly. We constantly drone bomb the crap out of innocent people, but that is COOL if you are Obama, where as you on the left fringe screamed bloody murder when Bush did it. Obama has escalated conflict in the Mid East, he has not reduced it. He did follow the Bush plan for Iraq withdrawal, only to escalate Afghanistan.

He has done nothing with regards to Israel/Palestine, he has not engaged Russia in any meaningful way (other than to capitulate), Iran is getting worse as is Libya. Egypt is going more radical. Who exactly has he engaged Mutt? One foreign policy triumph is killing Osama.... can you list others?

The Republican party used to know that before they became the party of ignorant rednecks.

No one said that we are better on an individual basis. I know you underachieving takers want to pretend the successful are 'mouth breathers', but the reality is, it is the exceptional that you takers live off of. You want to pretend there is something wrong with taking pride in our success. We are not perfect and no one has proclaimed we are. But take a look around Mutt... we are still among the very best at innovation, we are still among the best at production, we are still among the best at work ethic. We are certainly not number one at everything, but we do indeed excel relative to our peers. You find shame in this and try to demean those who take pride in it. It speaks far more to your lack of character than anything.

We can take pride in our success, but at the same time we have to look at our failures, exceptionlsm doesnt look at our nation realistically. This was Mott's point.

I understood his point. My point is that he is wrong. Exceptionalism doesn't mean ignoring the negatives. To the contrary, it is in overcoming our weaknesses and striving to better ourselves (and the world) that largely defines the American spirit. We overcome obstacles, address mistakes (slavery, voting rights etc...). Do we still make mistakes... of course. Again, we are not perfect, nor do we claim to be. We have let our political class obtain too much power and in doing so they have begun to revert to the corrupt practices of old Europe (imperialistic mentality, use of war). That is something we the people must overcome... or it will lead to our demise. Ike warned us, we didn't listen. The sooner we address it, the better. There are no perfect systems or perfect countries, but I would love to see examples of what others think might represent a better system overall.
 
Note to Low:

If you look up Modern Europe in a thesaurus, I believe you will find "failure" among the results. I suspect that's why you're hiding out on the other side of the world.
