There's no doubt about What Lo is pointing out. Hell Obama won the Noble Peace prize on the basis that he wasn't George W. Bush. That ought to give you an idea how our allies feel about Republicans and their xenophobia. Under Bush our allies didn't like us and our enemies laughed at us. Under Obama our allies like us and our enemies are to scared or to dead to laugh.

I can remember being abroad a half a dozen times during the Bush years and in every country I visited I heard the same form of this question asked to me "Why do you Americans hate us?" and these were in countries that are our freaken allies!!!

The point being is the Democrats are right. Engagement works, Isolationism and militarism does not. The Republican party used to know that before they became the party of ignorant rednecks.

You can almost always tell someone who has never been abroad when they talk that stupid exceptionalism shit. At a human level we're no better than anyone else. If our nation is exceptional it's not because of nationalist mouth breathers but in spite of them.
