Scientists find "strongest evidence yet" of life on distant planet. "This could be the tipping point"

Still the same pudgy obnoxious, zit-faced little 12 year old Toby Turbo Turd posting from his bedroom in mommy's house.

Maybe if you start paying more attention to your school work, you'll actually pass the 7th grade this year.
Again, Nomad or should I say Dutchy Boy only deals in cartoons and AI generated images like the dumbass adolescent little freak he is. Damn, your parents or whatever moron neglected you as a child must be real winners, lol.

Yeah, but shipping companies always ensure they have "logistic" in their company names or slogans.
Some trucking companies do, since are a network of trucks being logistically handled for more efficient trucking.
Just like housewives are domestic "engineers" and garbage men are "sanitation engineers."
Yeah...those are pretty lame attempts to glorify themselves. The funny is they need not do so.
Being a successful housewife is NO easy task! Driving a garbage truck does require a CDL, but beyond that, not much else. They don't even have to lift cans of garbage anymore. They have lifts on the truck to do that! Most times, they can even lift the cans and set them down again without destroying them!

The word 'engineer' first entered the English lexicon around the early 1300s. From the French 'engigneor', a designer and builder of military engines (like catapults) and later, other artillery. The term was expanded to include other engines as well, such as locomotive engines (the first locomotive drivers were the builder!), and is now expanded to software 'engines', such as extensive background or support tasks (as opposed to a UI designer). The Unreal gaming engine was designed and built by software engineers.

The term has also been expanded to include a ship's engineer (before he was called the 'carpenter') tasked with keeping the ship's engines fully maintained and ready for action, and handling any other part of the ship's overall construction (other than topdeck work in the days of sail).

There is no engine being designed by a housewife.
There is no engine being designed by a garbage man.

So for someone like Noballs or Trumpette, an engineer at Boeing is a garbage man. These are stupid and uneducated people. Point and laugh - they can't be educated.
Democrats can't be educated because they are religious fundamentalists.

The Church of Green.
The Church of the Ozone Hole.
The Church of Global Warming.
The Church of Covid.
The Church of Hate.
The Church of Karl Marx.
...and others.

They consider that 'education' and their minds are completely closed, and all they can do is mindlessly chant and throw insults.

See my earlier example of a program written to describe a Democrat. It has only three statements in it, which is less than a program for a housefly.

Now that we have that settled, what part of logistics science does one leverage to debate the role of DMS as an indicator for life?
Once again, logistics isn't science.

Dimethyle sulfide is not life. There is no debate. It can be synthesized by passing methanol and hydrogen sulfide over a catalyst of aluminum oxide (how it's currently synthesized for industry). No life required for the reaction to occur.

Yes we know there are synthetic pathways that don't require life. But may I ask you to point to a natural setting in which DMS is synthesized in that manner?

But to answer - the part that grasps that speculation sans evidence is not proof of anything.

If I design a system (and I did) to use RFID embedded in WIP to track production movement interfacility and calculate aggregate percentage of completion to update CTP (capable to promise) statistics, but never provide any evidence that the data is collected or that the parts are at the level of completion calculated, or that the effective ship date calculated is correct - then it is mere speculation.

That is what you have here - wishful thinking and speculation based on a lack of data and spectral results proven in 2010 to show chlorine, not water.
You make an excellent point here. Spectral analysis of points out in space taken through a telescope is the COMBINED spectrum of all materials in the view. It CAN look like almost anything.

Here, Sybil is assuming the dimethylsulfide (which he calls DMS) is not only being detected, but is an indicator of life. This material can be synthesized (and is!) using nothing more than methanol, aluminum oxide, and hydrogen sulfide. The spectral analysis might not even BE dimethylsulfide. It could be the result of other materials combining in the special analysis that LOOKS like dimythelsulfide.

As you are probably already aware, there IS such a thing as inaccurate data collection, simply because of rash assumptions.

Well, he's convinced there is life on this planet. It's a religion. It's fundamentalist by nature. There is no convincing him his religion is false.

The thing that I abhor is people calling religion 'science'. They try to describe science as some kind of 'education', degree, certification, license, or some other form of sanctification.

Science is just a set of falsifiable theories. Anyone can create one. It requires no consensus or voting bloc. It requires no degree, certification, license, or government agency. As long as the theory is falsifiable, and has been tested at least once to try to destroy it, and it survives, it is automatically part of science. It will remain so until it is eventually falsified (if ever).

No theory is ever proven True. It is not possible. A theory is nothing more than an explanatory argument. Many theories of science have been transcribed into mathematical form (a closed functional system) that provides the ability to predict. Such a transcription is called a 'law' and is given by the equation that results.

Examples: F=mA, E(t+1) = E(t) - U, e{t+1) >=e(t), r=C*m*t^4 (Newton's law of motion, the 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics, and the Stefan-Boltzmann law). Note that ALL of these have been discarded by the Church of Global Warming and other Democrat fundamentalist religions.

Very interesting. No insight whatsoever into the topic of the OP but it's cool you threw some airtags in some shipments and tracked them around.
Internal production is not shipping, idiot.
Just yesterday I utilized an on-line function to track my mail.
USPS tracking is almost useless. The Post Office is in Senate hearings trying to 'splain himself about this and other stupid problems in the postal service, like overnight packages taking five days to ship.
I was expecting some coffee from Amazon.
Amazon uses their own delivery system, and it's quite good, thanks to logistics coordinators helping with the COW software.
And yet it didn't give me any insight into DMS as a hallmark of biological activity. I might have done it wrong.
Dimethylsulfide is not life.
