Racist LA Clippers Owner Donald Sterling is a Democrat, What else is new?

So owners are the only one's to be punished for racist remarks?

You're asking these questions like I'm Adam Silver. I don't run the NBA. Kobe Bryant got fined $100K for calling a referee a faggot. I don't know about other fines for racial or gay comments.

You didn't answer what your ultimate argument is. Do you not think the NBA should have taken the actions it did against Sterling?

But why wasn't he banned from playing or having anything to do with the team or the league??
Unless homophobic comments aren't as bad as racist ones?

You don't see the difference between an owner & a player in that circumstance? Really?

Also - very curious as to your answer to the question cawacko keeps asking you.

So you only have an opinion when Mr. Silver tells you what it is!! :good4u:

I think it's BS that they're using an illegally tapped PRIVATE conversation to do what they should have done based on his PUBLIC behavior, years ago.

But since it's the "integrity" of the NBA that seems to be at stake here, why shouldn't the accountability be equal?
Do fans really go to the game based on who the owner is or do the go to watch those in the limelight?

I'm also curious as to the lack of responses I've received, regarding my question of...

So if your boss called you into their office and said you were being fired, over a comment you made here, you would have no problem with it and would just go merrily on your way?

...because apparently the hypocrisy of some on this forum, only allows them to go so far. :palm:

LOL

So, you're okay w/ the punishment, but it should have been done sooner.

You're making all kinds of sense on this thread.

It doesn't matter what the fans' motivation is. The role of the individual is the salient point here.

The role of the player vs. the role of the owner is vastly different.

And it's apparent that you had a preconceived conclusion, on what I might have thought, and now that it's been destroyed, you have nothing left. :D

So they should have kicked him out sooner but because they didn't they shouldn't do it now? Even though it was illegal once the tape is out there there's no turning back. Players were not going to play yesterday if they felt the penalty wasn't strong enough. The league was going to shut down during the playoffs. That's not good for business.

The players boycotting and the league shutting down was bullshit.
I didn't see anyone threatening to do the same back when his racist behavior was public.

Thanks for proving that you're nothing more then a hypocritical windsock that will go which ever way the public opinion breathes.

Whatever. You seem to have no problem putting words in other people's mouths. Your opinion means nothing.

I said nothing about homophobia, or that racism was worse. So, your implication was insanely dishonest. Sorry 'bout that.

The tape was public. It was made in private but it was public for the world to hear.

Is it wrong if the players said 'we f'd up not doing this before (protesting) we're not going to f it up this time?'

Here's an interesting column by a black writer Jason Whitlock. It's about dominant white racism but he speaks to Sterling's privacy being violated and how it's mob rule that came after him and how they didn't do anything previously.
