How do you judge this to be an incorrect prediction? He chose not to be.
The Dems did select yet another candidate that nobody got to vote for though... and I don't think he "chose" to step down, the Queen of the Congressional Democrats made it clear that he would not be running and his handlers "chose" to have him say what she told him to say.

The core of your assertion here is "I don't think...", signifying that all you are doing is trying to pass off speculation and personal opinion as viable facts.
The "fact" is that the GOP and progressives (and some Dems) were all questioning Uncle Joe's mental stability LONG before he "officially" stepped down. Given the time frame, there was little to no time to caucus on other candidates, let alone some sort of rapid primary.
In other words, a hot mess that the Dem party power players created for themselves. The result is the pending hell we see in the White House today.

They also almost certainly had to know that Kamala couldnt either if they had any brains at all. The situation really shows just how bad the D party has degenerated in the last few years or so. Can you imagine a political party so devolved that the very best they had to offer up were JOE and KAMALA ? Yep.......that party is plum for the taking. This is the rights greatest chance in a generation to stick a knife right thru its heart and luckily the R's have just the team in place to do it.

I know. Maga mooks and the Alt-Right reprehensibles just can't grasp a simple concept ... like the Orange Oaf DID NOT run against Obama and yeah, there was nothing illegal about Uncle Joe dropping out of the race and appointing a successor (although I do take umbrage with the latter of that).
The Orange Oaf got into the Oval Office due to low voter turnout, serious voter suppression in red states and total fuck ups by the Dems regarding choice of candidates. Period.
